WORLD OF WARCRAFT (Vanilla)

Antonio Perelli (Traveling Salesman)
Duskwood

He patrols all the Duskwood road from the western road near Westfall to the northeastern road.

Reference: Sweeney Todd

Signor Adolfo Pirelli – the Italian hair tonic salesman Sweeney kills at the beginning of the film.

Another fan suggests it is a reference to “At the Circus” – a 1939 Marx Brothers comedy film, where Chico Marx played Antonio “Tony” Pirelli.

BURNING CRUSADE

138. NPC: Harrison Jones
Zul’Aman, Ghostlands

To start the timer in the raid-dungeon Zul’Aman, you have to talk to this human.

Harrison Jones stands for Harrison Ford – actor who played as Indiana Jones.

139. Item: Crossbow of the Albatross
Azuremyst Isle

In the Draenei starting zone, the reward from the quest, Gnomercy, is a weapon called Crossbow of the Albatross.

Reference: Rime of the Ancient Mariner

This weapon is an allusion to Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s Rime of the Ancient Mariner, in which an albatross is shot down by a crossbow.

“God save thee, ancient Mariner!
From the fiends, that plague thee thus!—
Why look’st thou so?”—With my cross-bow
I shot the Albatross!” – excerpt.

140. NPC: Terokk
Skettis, Terokkar Forest

Terokk is an ancient god the Arakkoa wish to resurrect at the Skettis Mountain, based on a prophecy.

Reference: The Belgariad

A series of fantasy books by David Eddings. Torak is a dead god whose followers are trying to resurrect. Seems to fit the prophecy theme of the NPC’s emote chatter in Skettis.
