During the 2011 San Diego Comic Con, Hank Kanalz (DC Entertainment SVP Digital), Chris Metzen (Blizzard SVP of Creative Development) and Micky Neilson (Blizzard Publishing Lead) unveiled three upcoming graphic novels:

  • World of Warcraft: Dark Riders (Alliance)
  • World of Warcraft: Bloodsworn (Horde)
  • StarCraft (Untitled)

The World of Warcraft: Dark Riders graphic novel is written by Mike Costa and illustrated by Neil Googe. The World of Warcraft: Bloodsworn graphic novel is written by Doug Wagner and illustrated by Jheremy Rapaak. Finally, the StarCraft graphic novel written by Simon Furman. You can read the 2011 SDCC panel transcript here. It contains images and video too.

The World of Warcraft: Bloodsworn (Horde) was announced to hit newsstands by the last quarter of 2011. However, for reasons unknown this approximate launch estimate was missed. This has caused some fans over at the Scrolls of Lore community to speculate the graphic novels have been cancelled.

I dug around to find out more on the status of these graphic novels. There is still no ETA, but Blizzplanet will have a preview to show you by the end of February, courtesy of Blizzard and DC Entertainment. Don’t lose faith. The World of Warcraft graphic novel is coming soon.
