Fantasy Flight Games has announced a new Starcraft Board Game. Following the success and popularity of the Warcraft and World of Warcraft board games, we are very pleased to announce the release of an epic board game based on Blizzard Entertainment?s classic Starcraft computer game. This will be one of our big box games, in the tradition of Twilight Imperium, Descent: Journeys in the Dark, and World of Warcraft: the Board Game. It features a large central game board depicting the Starcraft galaxy, as well as nine separate smaller boards that each represent a specific planet in the Starcraft universe. Players will control the familiar Terran, Protoss, or Zerg space and ground units in a bid for domination of these nine worlds. The combat system is fast and diceless, featuring an innovative mechanic that utilizes transparent plastic game cards. The game will feature dozens of beautifully sculpted plastic figures, dozens of cards, lots of high-quality cardboard tokens and markers, a large game board and several mini-boards, and all of the other great components that pack our epic-size games. Starcraft: The Board Game is scheduled for release in October.
Fantasy Flight Games announced the development of World of Warcraft: Shattered Kingdoms Board Game as an expansion to the core board game. The new expansion is slated to be out by Summer 2006. It is currently in development and playtesting. Once it is available we will add it to the store. The release of an expansion, suggests the first edition is selling very well. You can find the first edition Here
“This enormously popular board game also gets two expansions this year. The first, Shattered Kingdom, is due in July and features hundreds of new cards, both expanding the original game and introducing a few new concepts. A new item deck rewards characters with exciting trinkets and artifacts. A new quest deck puts a bounty on independent creatures, rewarding characters who defeat them. Each class deck also receives 10 new powers and 10 new talents, further developing each character’s arsenal of unique abilities and customizability. Each Overlord also receives special cards that are shuffled into the event deck, and these cards make them even more dangerous throughout the game. In November, World of Warcraft: The Board Game gets its first full-sized expansion, with new Overlords, new characters, events, and quests—including dungeon quests which characters must battle through several cards to complete.”

Although the Playstation 3 release has been delayed possibly until November 2006, Ken Kutaragi confirmed backward compatibility of the PS3, which may allow PS1 and PS2 games be played on PS3. If like me, you got ditched with Blizzard’s cancellation of Starcraft: Ghost on GameCube, and planned to get a PS2 to play the game … I suggest holding your horses, and wait until today in the afternoon when the PlayStation Business Briefing 2006 will take place. More details will be revealed today about the console.
Saving money on a PS2 and to get the benefits of the PS3 technology and backwards compatibility is worth the wait if you aim to get your paws upon Starcraft: Ghost. It may allow you to play old and new games alike. Based upon the new details coming in the next few days, we will try to contact Blizzard Public Relations to confirm whether Starcraft: Ghost will be playable under PS3. Rumors are that not all PS2 games are going to be compatible with PS3. Stay tuned.

Some hunters won’t be very happy after knowing that the latest patch changes Hunter traps from invisible to stealthed. They are easier to detect than usual. However, Tseric assures this will allow in the future flexibility to create new content related to how traps work.
Tseric: ” Traps will now be treated as stealthed, not invisible. Therefore, they aren’t “visible” as the current scuttlebutt would have you believe, but may become visible the way a stealthed rogue may be.
It is intended and will allow for future design options for how traps work in the game. Hypothetically speaking, you could have dungeon traps with varying levels of stealth value or “difficulty” which could be discovered by a dungeon party. Some may be easy for everyone to see, others may require perception, etc. It opens the potential for additional gameplay for rogues with finding and disarming traps.”

As you may see at the top-right of the page, we have a menu bar similar to that of Battle.net—it is currently not in service. Links direct you to blank pages. This is alright. It is still under development. I’m going to migrate the left-block text to independent pages per game to lower down the clutter. The RSS Feed will be removed, and we are planning to create a separate page for Feeds. This means you will read feeds if you wish to. Hopefully, this will speed up loading time for fans running 56kbps. However, we will be working on this for few days. We will update you when the menu is operational.
DarkNemesis was working on a Search Engine that will allow you to search keywords within the news section or within the content section, or both. This will be helpful to you when searching for something in particular. Soon as Darknemesis tweaks the code, it will be at the top-left.
There will be soon a Modding Community news section—it is still inactive, as you may see above, and a section where all Starcraft, Warcraft and Diablo mods in the internet will be listed, helping you find them easily, instead of browsing dozens of yahoo/google pages.
We will soon have a World of Warcraft Movies feed—this is top-secret project that some close-partners are working on, and we will provide feed support to them, and at the same time give you options. Movies submitted to their database will be automatically converted to Flash/.SWF ensuring browser-compatibility. The great news is that you won’t be annoyed by certain ad banners that destroy the MMO Community. Which is a plus. We will be honored to support such a project.
A new section has been opened under our World of Warcraft section: Roleplaying Fanfics. It is a list of over 220 Fanfics submitted by fans to our partner forum community pvprp.com
RP-PvP.com and BlizzPlanet are combining efforts to create a fan-fiction contest pertaining to the realm of World of WarCraft to stimulate the RP Community.
Rules for the contest
- Simply write about a character of your own creation, or an already existing character to the WarCraft lore.
- Tag the title of your submission as “Your-Title” [contest] to officially enter the contest. For example: The Feats of an Elven Rogue [contest]
- Your Roleplaying Fanfic should be lengthy. Be creative.
The top written story, dependant on aesthetics and storyline, will be awarded a World of WarCraft Roleplaying Game Core Book in PDF file (400 pages) – regularly costing $27.99 in U.S. currency. Pick up a pen or type on that keyboard and write a Roleplaying Fanfic. Happy roleplaying!

Glynnis Talken’s monthly newsletter for March is out. She is preparing for the April launch of her non-Blizzard Book Lady Danger—a Medieval Romance novel. Her new book seudonym as I had announced many months ago is SARAH MCKERRIGAN—homage to her role as voice actress of Sarah Kerrigan (Starcraft).
Glynnis will be at a Book Signing event at Los Angeles County Irish Fair and Music Festival, at the Pomona Fairplex on Saturday, March 11th. Look for her at the Tea & Sympathy booth. Map and Directions available on the link provided above (menu bar).
Below is the Newsletter. Make sure to join the Contest. The Prizes are:
- A MINIATURE BROADSWORD
- A LITTLE KNIGHT MUSIC”—ORIGINAL CD OF MEDIEVAL SONGS
A month ago, I browsed the Exhibitor List of E3, to find Blizzard wasn’t listed. I found it odd. Got to one of my contacts in Blizzard, and was told Blizzard was coming to E3. A month later, today, I just confirmed that Blizzard Entertainment is coming to E3 Expo.
You may find Blizzard at South 1224 Booth. E3 Expo will be live from:
- Conference Program: May 9th?11th
- Expo: May 10th?12th
Showcasing World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade Expansion and Starcraft: Ghost is a no-brainer. However . . . will Blizzard announce the unannounced project? Or will they wait until BlizzCon 2006? We will have to wait, and see.
Recently, we interviewed, through a Public Q&A, Cory Jones from Upper Deck Entertainment to find out details of the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game. Today, a newsletter was issued out to subscribers invoking a Survey.
Thank you for your interest in the upcoming Warcraft Trading Card Game. Upper Deck wants to create a product that you will enjoy, so please share your opinions with us! We have created an online survey. The survey consists of three sections and should take about 15 minutes to complete. As a thank-you gift, we will select 12 random participants who complete the entire survey to each receive a Warcraft Trading Card Game Starter Deck when the product is finished!
Fill out the Survey
Please do not fill out the survey more than once. Only the first entry from any given IP address will be eligible to receive a gift.
Thank you for telling us what you think!

I have resumed, last two days, work on transcribing all the NPC dialogue texts of Diablo II and its expansion Lord of Destruction. This on an effort to expand the Blizzard Games lore you may find in Blizzplanet as your source.
I don’t have an ETA on when it will be up, but it will be very soon. I am doing the HTML coding as I speak. So far I am working on Lord of Destruction quest: Prison of Ice—where you rescue Anya. So the release of the content is not too far as you may see.
You will be able to read the plot more calmly and in detail outside the lengthy hours of gameplay.
Blizzplanet is looking for Community Managers to work volunteerly in expanding and enriching the Roleplaying Community of our partner forums Rp-pvp.com—Submissions should be sent to the Forum Administrator Meara:
“The chime of metal scraping against metal resonated through the tall halls of RP-PvP. A goblin sat perched in a lofty throne, looking over his scrambling minions as they darted from forum to forum; moderating, crafting, and writing. The goblin raked his fingers through a black crest spread over his scalp, angled eyes closed as he spouted a maniacal cackle.
Another goblin, of shorter stature, approached the swaggering goblin poised on his throne. The lesser goblin opened a scroll and promptly began to read…
By order of the supreme office of RP-PvP, and by command of the higher powers of Meara Boldenwill, RP-PvP requires Trade-Prince Bazlo to hire new talents into the staff of our community. These Community Managers will moderate our forums, arrange roleplay events, and promote roleplay in any possible manner in-game and out. Resum?s must be sent to Meara, where the supreme office of RP-PvP will look over and make their decisions on whether the applicant will be accepted as a new staff member. Applications will no longer be accepted by March 11th, 2006.”
