Deadline informs Legendary Pictures and Atlas Entertainment are casting for the Warcraft film.

Paula Patton is negotiating a lead role. Bleeding Cool says she is going for Lady Taria — wife of King Llane. Paula Patton is known for her role as Jane Carter in Mission Impossible 4: Ghost Protocol (2011) with Tom Cruise, and the upcoming Mission Impossible 5 (2015).

I am not too certain Bleeding Cool got the name right. If the rumor that the film is going with the Medivh and Khadgar era (The First War) was true, what would make sense is to see King Adamant Wrynn III and his wife Varia — parents of a younger Prince Llane.

Rumored also is Irish-actor Colin Farrell in a lead role as either Prince Llane or Sir Anduin Lothar. It’s not yet written in stone, and should be taken as rumor. Colin Farrell is known for his leading role in Total Recall (2012), Seven Psychopaths (2012), he was Sonny Crocket in Miami Vice (2006), and played as Bullseye in Daredevil (2003) — just to name a few of his films.

We’ll very much start to hear rumors and confirmations of casting roles in upcoming weeks leading up to BlizzCon. Director Duncan Jones will begin shooting this film on January 2014.

Note: The First War started when Prince Llane was young, as you can read in our archived Warcraft: Orcs & Humans (1994) game manual story titled: Sir Lothar: Stormwind History.
