The quests to acquire the Netherdrake Flying Mount is now available in the Public Test Realm:  patch 2.1.0 and some fans won’t like the requirements.  The quest starts with the Blood Elf NPC named Mordenai.  He wanders the southwestern area of the Netherwing Fields in Shadowmoon Valley.

He is a netherdrake in disguise.  After you complete all his quests, you are sent to free Neltharaku’s lover from the paws of the Dragonmaw Clan.  This requires you to kill Zuluhed the Whacked—Chieftain of the Dragonmaw Clan.  He was who found the Demon Soul in Warcraft: Day of the Dragon novel by Richard A. Knaak.

You will need 5-players to kill him, and make sure you hide on the northern room of the fortress or the archers that spawn atop the fortress during the event will surely wipe you.  Once pulling him into the room, don’t stay on the same spot.  Zuluhed casts rain of fire very often on healers or ranged-DPS players.  When he reaches around 30% health, Zuluhed summons a massive Pitlord.  Simply focus on Zuluhed until he dies. Then engage the Pitlord.  It has a lot of hit points but his damage is not as much as Zuluhed’s.  Free Neltharaku’s lover with the key you loot from Zuluhed, by clicking the shackle-ball attached to the netherdragon’s foot.

She takes you on top of her back and flies you down to Mordenai. There you discover Mordenai is son of the dragon you just freed.  When you turn in the quest, you are surrounded by a green flash that informs you have become Neutral with the Netherwing Faction.

By now you should know that if you are a Dragonscale Leatherworker you will no longer be able to kill Netherdrakes in Shadowmoon Valley, Blade’s Edge Mountains or Netherstorm after Friendly, or your reputation will decrease.  Chrno, Hellscream Server confirmed you may still kill them while you are neutral by clicking “At War” in your reputation tab without penalty. Only while Neutral.  After Friendly, you may kill Enslaved Netherwing Drakes in the Dragonmaw Fortress in Shadowmoon Valley. Those are not neutral since they are tamed by the Dragonmaw Clan to get your Dragonscales.  A good alternative for Leatherworkers.  And you can find more Netherdrakes in Black Temple … if your guild ever makes it there—chuckles!

So … how can you gain further reputation?  Mordenai will offer more quests.  However, the requirement is that you already need to have 300 riding skill.  if you have 5,000 gold, go to Shadowmoon Village (Horde) or Wildhammer Stronghold (Alliance) in Shadowmoon Valley and talk to the Riding Instructor.

The Horde NPC is named Olrokk and the Alliance NPC is named Ilsa Blusterbrew.  You can find them by the Stables.  Once you become 300 Riding Skill, Mordenai will now offer new quests.  Otherwise, he won’t show any.

The quests to further your reputation with the Netherwing will take place in Netherwing Ledge, the island floating in the Twisting Nether southeast of Shadowmoon Valley.  Have fun getting your Netherdrake Flying Mount.  Watch the video!
