Road to Season 8 Realm Championships Starts in November. Annual organized play events will feature new prize structure and play formats

Irvine, CA (September 24, 2012) — Cryptozoic Entertainment™, the premier developer of licensed and original games, and Blizzard Entertainment today announced the qualifiers for Season 8 Realm Qualifiers for the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game. Running from November through April, local hobby stores worldwide will host the qualifiers, given players six months to qualify for the invitation-only Realm Championships, held in May 2013 at locations around the world. At each Realm Qualifier, players can earn points toward their Championship invitation.

Season 8 Realm Qualifiers mark a new season for the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game organized play, and bring with them several improvements to the events. Current players will notice that the qualifying window is two months longer than it had been in previous years, offering even more time for stores to host events and for players to qualify for the Championship.

Additionally, Season 8 Realm Qualifiers will rotate through three different play formats. Events in November and December will feature sealed play, and January and February event will host Core constructed play. Events in March and April will be the first to offer Contemporary format for Realm Qualifiers. Contemporary format will also be featured in May Championship events, as one of three play formats. To find the most well-rounded players, Realm Championship events will feature at least three rounds each of Draft, Core and Contemporary.

The prize structure for this season’s Realm Qualifiers will change, offering different participation prizes and new prizes for the top four finishers with each play format. At each event, players will have a shot at winning foil cards, deck boxes and booster packs along with the invitational points.

Hobby stores worldwide will be invited to apply to host Season 8 Realm Qualifiers. Stores that have not yet been contacted may request more information through the Customer Service Portal at
