Back on February, Aaron Rosenberg told me as an exclusive he would be writing World of Warcraft: Tides of Darkness novel, as a novelization of the award-winning RTS Game by Blizzard Entertainment, titled Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness.  The pocket book will be at bookstores on August 28, 2007.

Shortly after, I asked Aaron if he would be writing a sequel inspired in the Warcraft II expansion.  Aaron denied it, but said he would be busy throughout 2008.  My hunch has been confirmed.  Simons & Schuster officially announced:

WORLD OF WARCRAFT: BEYOND THE DARK PORTAL

… to be released on April 2008.

No further details has been provided.  For those who haven’t played Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness and Warcraft II: Beyond the Dark Portal expansion back in 1994-1995, you can read up the map campaign missions in our sections.  Main characters of the RTS game were Khadgar, Turalyon, Alleria Windrunner, Kurdran Wildhammer, Danath Trollbane and Kurdran’s gryphon: Sky’ree.  On the Horde side, Kargath Bladefist, Teron Gorefiend, Ner’Zhul, Grom Hellscream, and many others.

Something fans like of Aaron Rosenberg is how close he stays to the in-game campaign missions in Starcraft: Queen of Blades, even quoting heroe dialogues from the game, accurately. Warcraft Lore fans have their eyes on both novels to see how close he stays, and what the retcons he mentioned in our previous interview are.
