Breaking news! A new Starcraft novel is in development by author Graham McNeill (well known for his Warhammer books), and scheduled to be at bookstores on December 28, 2008. The novel is titled:
STARCRAFT: I, MENGSK
Mass Market Paperback: 384 pages
Publisher: Pocket Star (December 30, 2008)
More details soon once I knock a few contacts. Thanks, Andrzej.
UPDATE: Graham Mc Neill told Blizzplanet the following:
|”I, Mengsk is a look at three generations of the Mengsk family from the inside out…what shaped Arcturus and the years of his life we haven’t seen yet: the relationship between his father and his son. It’s a novel about what it means to be a Mengsk, a story of fathers and sons, and looks at whether a man’s destiny is his own and how it is shaped by the generation before it.”
It’s been a busy couple of weeks here, with the Starcraft novel entering the final straits. I’ve begun the final third of the book and so far it’s going well, the pace is good, the vibe I’m getting from the characters is good, the plot’s moving forward at the right pace and, best of all, Blizzard seem to be liking it so far.—Graham McNeill said.
Other Starcraft pocketbooks I am aware of, after contacting other authors in the past months:
- Aaron Rosenberg will write a sequel to Queen of Blades.
- Keith R.A. DeCandido might be writing a Tokyopop Starcraft Manga (2009)—as of last time we talked. By then, there was no contract. Recently he told me he would love to write a new Starcraft: Ghost novel, but that there are no plans thus far. A couple of months later, I contacted Tokyopop Public Relations who confirmed the Starcraft Manga. However, at this point no details whether DeCandido as author is final.
