How Hard Could It Be? The Story of a Cinematic
StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm embraces cinematics as a high-level storytelling tool, a tactic that has been under fire in the game industry in recent years. This panel will discuss the strengths and weaknesses of that approach by tracing the story development of one particularly difficult cinematic. By showing multiple versions of the animatic, we will examine the speed of cinematic production vs. game design, the feedback we received, the choices we made, and how they impacted the story. We will cover the obstacles we overcame, those we didn’t, and the lessons we learned.
Forbes has positioned Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft as the # 1 Best Digital Card Game Of 2013 toppling other card games in the same DCG genre including Magic: The Gathering Online (which reached # 2).
Blizzard’s arrival in the digital card game space? Nuclear launch detected.
Met with a rather lukewarm reception at the PAX East 2013 reveal “What? They’re making a free-to-play card game?” Hearthstone appeared to be a reasonable casual title for World of Warcraft fans and players looking to learn a simplified CCG. What it’s actually shown itself to be is an engaging CCG on multiple levels, one that will likely have considerable impact on the DCG genre. — read more

Blizzard Entertainment implemented a hotfix on the Diablo III: Reaper of Souls Friends & Family Beta Testing realms to address a bug with Crushing Blows.
Nevalistis: Below you will find a list of hotfixes recently implemented in our Friends & Family Beta that address various bugs and mechanic tweaks. These have been implemented to encourage experimenting with other items, skills, or mechanics while we revisit them for the next patch.
These hotfixes should not require you to download a new patch for the Friends & Family Beta. Some of the hotfixes below will go live the moment they are implemented while others may require a restart of the game to go into effect. Please keep in mind that some issues cannot be addressed without a client-side patch. Also note that changes to certain abilities will not be reflected in its tooltip until a patch is issued.
- Crushing Blow is being temporarily disabled.
- Since Crushing Blow is currently adversely skewing data and feedback from the beta, we’re going to remove it for the time being. We’ll be continuing to iterate on this stat in the meantime.
Gloves of Worship
- The duration increase to shrines is being changed from 60 minutes to 10 minutes.

Awesome isn’t that cinematic just awesome, we’re really excited to be here, umm my name is Josh Mosqueira, I’m the game director, and it’s a great honor to be here with you guys today, we’re going to show you some of the cool new things we have in store for you guys for the ”Reapers of Souls” .
We got a great panel for you guys today, but before we get in to meat and potatoes of Reapers of Souls, I want to take a few moments to talk to you guys about what Reapers of Souls means to us.
What of our high level goals we had when we started the project; and for us it all starts with epic heroes, where you are the Barbarian or Demon Hunter or the Monk or the brand new Crusader, You’re a knight in a battlestar armor, you guys are playing heroes which are bigger than life and you are facing the forces of darkness.
In “Reaper Souls”, we’re celebrating the dark gothic hearts. It is at the root of Diablo, and we have a sleuth of new monsters for you guys to kill and loot; and Joe and Julian, up here, are gonna talk to you about how our monsters are designed to live to die, and we’re not only introducing new monsters we’re also introducing brand new villain to the world of Diablo in the form of Malthael — the angel of death, and Tim and Zaven are going to talk to you guys about Pandemonium — the final battleground where you guys are going to be confronting Malthael, and trying to stop death; but we’re not just stopping there, one of the most important goals for us is we wanna make sure that there was, an end game for everyone.
