Emerald Dream Active?

Caydiem was very cryptic on her answer to one of the fans when asking if the Emerald Dream was an instance we can get into now or if we had to wait until Blizzard releases it officially.  Ever since Closed Beta during installations of patches, everyone has noticed when clicking the details tab, that Emerald Dream files are updated and that exist already within our client.

Caydiem answered:

” Perhaps with study and patience, the Emerald Dream may become open eventually… but for the time being it remains closed to all.”

That pretty much leaves everyone with a fallen jaw.  It seems that the Emerald Dream is waiting for a player to find a way to enter it.  Below is a summary of the quests tying with the Emerald Dream.  Read below . . .

Blackwing Lair Preview

Blackwing Lair Instance will be the next major content patch to be released, followed by Zul’Gurub.  World of Warcraft UK Website has released a preview of what to expect in Blackwing Lair and a few screenshots.  The instance will be inside Upper Blackrock Spire, on the opposite side of the hall leading to the Beast area.  Nefarian—known as Blackwing, is son of Deathwing and brother of Onyxia.  Caydiem confirmed that Blackwing Lair will be more difficult than Molten Core.  No doubt a great challenge for hardcore guilds.  Read the full preview at Wow-Europe.

Blizzplanet Forums

Blizzplanet has officially joined a forum community with 30,000 members and usually 150 members online at any time.  Our old forums was down for a long time due to security issues.  A conversion of users database was transfered to yabbse forum, but old threads were not converted, making the forum look empty, and our members no longer kept the forum active.  I have visited a forum community for last 3 years and have liked the seriousness and friendlyness of the moderators and decided to talk to them to join them as a Forum Community where Blizzplanet visitors may interact with a community of 30,000 members to talk about Blizzard games, Warcraft lore, World of Warcraft, Starcraft, etc.  It was a harsh decision for us, but in the long run we hope that our visitors may have an official place to call a community.  Please, visit the forum link at our left menu and register. Thanks for your loyalty to Blizzplanet in the last few years.

Whoa? Blizzard acquires Swingin’ Ape Studios

Incredible news.  Blizzard has acquired Swingin’ Ape Studios for an undetermined amount.  The current developer studio of Starcraft: Ghost, composed of few of the employees that formerly created Starcraft belongs now to Blizzard.

BLIZZARD ENTERTAINMENT® ACQUIRES SWINGIN’ APE STUDIOS

IRVINE, Calif. — May 16, 2005 – Blizzard Entertainment® today announced that it has completed the acquisition of acclaimed console developer Swingin’ Ape Studios. Widely regarded as an innovative and accomplished development studio, the Swingin’ Ape team boasts some of the industry’s most-talented developers, with more than 50 games’ worth of collective design and development experience across all major platforms.

Under the agreement, Blizzard will retain Swingin’ Ape’s team of more than 40 developers, as well as acquire the studio’s proprietary development technologies. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

“The acquisition of Swingin’ Ape Studios takes us one step closer to realizing our goal of becoming a top-tier console developer,” stated Mike Morhaime, president and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment. “With Swingin’ Ape’s talented designers, programmers, and artists, we’re confident we’ll be able to create console games that meet the quality standards we’ve established for every Blizzard title.”

As part of Blizzard Entertainment, Swingin’ Ape Studios will establish the foundation for Blizzard’s new console team and will continue development on StarCraft: Ghost™ in that role. Plans for future console games will be announced at a later date.

Steve Ranck, president and co-founder of Swingin’ Ape Studios, expressed the team’s excitement at joining the Blizzard family. “We’ve long admired the quality and attention to detail that Blizzard puts into each of its PC titles,” said Ranck. “Our approach to game design is very similar, so we expect this to be a seamless transition for us.”

Ranck will assume the title of vice president of console development for Blizzard’s new console team and will report directly to Mike Morhaime. The team will remain in its Southern California office, located within a few miles of Blizzard’s Irvine, CA headquarters.
