Izsha – New Conversation

Izsha: You have become strong and taken another world. I think you will conquer the universe.

supreme-epilogue-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-2

Kerrigan: I don’t know about that. But the zerg will never again be pawns of other races … not even the xel’naga.

supreme-epilogue-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-3

Kerrigan: We have changed. And now, other worlds await.

Kerrigan: And you didn’t try to warn me.

Dehaka: He was zerg. You are zerg. One dies and one grows strong. You know.

Kerrigan: I think I am starting to understand you. Dehaka.

Kerrigan Chambers

Izsha: The powerful essence of the primal pack leaders has awakened a new column and many abilities.

supreme-epilogue-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-7

Abathur – New Conversation

Kerrigan: Tell me about your work.

supreme-epilogue-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-9

supreme-epilogue-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-10

Abathur: Eat flesh, splinter bone. Inside me, can touch it. Weave it. Spin it. Make it great.

Kerrigan: But not perfect?

supreme-epilogue-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-12

Gameplay

Zurvan: You must know your enemies. Yagdra, a worm whose acid burns like fire.

supreme2-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-3

Zurvan: Kraith, immense and consumed by hatred.

supreme2-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-4

Zurvan: Slivan, the Eternal Mother, hollow and destructive.

supreme2-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-5

Zurvan: Kill them and you will command the whole of the zerg. Each has sent most of its pack against your Swarm, leaving themselves vulnerable.

Kerrigan: Izsha, defend the leviathan. I will deal with the pack leaders myself.

Abathur: My queen. New form, powerful. Can leap through air, strike foes. Heavy damage.

supreme2-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-6

Abathur: New offensive ability: “Psionic Shift.” Dash quickly. Destroy creatures within path.

supreme2-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-7

Abathur: This relic: xel’naga origin. Houses genetic information. Important, must collect.

supreme2-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-8

Dehaka: Primal roaches help. They fight Yagdra’s brood.

Abathur: New form can twist essence. “Mend” wounds. Heal nearby zerg and self.

supreme2-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-9

Dehaka: More roaches.

Yagdra

Yagdra: Leader of the broken pack? No!

supreme2-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-10

Kerrigan: Is that fear, Yagdra? You do know you never had a chance, right?

Yagdra: Your change means nothing! I will melt the flesh from your bones! Die weakling!

Kerrigan: It’s laying eggs! Destroy them!

Yagdra: Stay still!

(Yagdra dies)

supreme2-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-11

Dehaka: More of my pack. Primal hydralisks.

Kerrigan: Quickly, destroy the eggs before they hatch! Focus on the largest ones first.

supreme2-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-12

Dehaka: My pack is ready to fight!

Kraith

Kraith: I feel your strength … You will be worth killing, worth the blood! A thousand cuts shred the flesh!

supreme2-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-13

Kraith: Rip you apart … limb from limb!

(Kraith dies)

supreme2-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-14

Dehaka: My pack arrives! They will break your enemies!

supreme2-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-15

Dehaka: These one explode when they sense you.

supreme2-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-16

Dehaka: Ravasaur. Fights with acid. Bring it down quickly.

Slivan

Slivan: Welcome … to your demise.

supreme2-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-17

Zurvan

Zurvan: It is time.

Kerrigan: Zurvan.

Zurvan: The pack leaders are slain, their packs join your Swarm, and here you stand. Complete. You are zerg. Your essence overflows with power. I … I thirst. You will feed my evolution; the first in millennia.

supreme2-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-18

Kerrigan: I wondered when you would make your move.

Zurvan: No allegiance but to self. Kill or be killed. You know this.

Kerrigan: Of course.

Zurvan: One will be consumed and become something greater than either! This is the heritage of the zerg!

Fight Kerrigan. Only the strongest survive! This is the destiny of all primal zerg. There is no escaping fate.

supreme2-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-19

(Zurvan dies)

Kerrigan: Zerus is mine. Izsha, prepare the leviathan. It’s time the Swarm returned to the Koprulu sector.

Supreme – Leviathan Scenes

Kerrigan: Izsha, what is a primal zerg doing on my leviathan?

supreme-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-2

Dehaka: I am Dehaka. One-who-collects. I kill, I take essence. Now I come to you because I feel your change. All Zerus feels it. All Zerus fears it, and you.

supreme-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-3

supreme-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-4

Kerrigan: But you don’t fear me, do you, Dehaka?

supreme-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-5

Dehaka: You shine. You will bring more essence, and I will follow. When you do not, I will not.

Kerrigan: Well, I’ve forged alliances on shakier ground than that. Very well, you can stay. Betray me and I’ll collect your essence.

Dehaka: Yes.

Dehaka – New Conversation

Kerrigan: Do you think the remaining pack leaders will join me now?

supreme-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-7

Dehaka: They are a rock, a tree, a hill. They will stand against the wind. They seek power.

supreme-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-8

Kerrigan: And you?

supreme-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-9

Dehaka: I am a river, I flow. I seek essence.

Kerrigan: Well the pack leaders have no chance against the Swarm now.

supreme-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-10

Dehaka: They gather essence for thousands of years. They are blinded. But they are not foolish.

Zurvan – New Conversation

Zurvan: You have been reborn. A primal pack leader of boundless power.

supreme-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-11

Kerrigan: I feel as if I can rip worlds apart.

supreme-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-12

Zurvan: And are you the equal of Amon, who once controlled you?

Kerrigan: He never controlled me. I felt … an influence. A trace of something dark, but long gone. Amon must have died before I was infested.

Zurvan: I hope it is so. For he truly could rip worlds apart.

Izsha – New Conversation

Izsha: You radiate so much power. More than the old Queen of Blades ever did.

supreme-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-15

Kerrigan: Everything is different. I could always hear the Swarm, control it.

supreme-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-13

But now … I feel the Swarm. Now I am the Swarm.

supreme-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-14

Abathur – New Converation

Abathur: Genetic strands different. Restructured from base level up.

supreme-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-16

Stronger than Queen of Blades. Sequences complex but clean. Completely different at core.

supreme-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-17

Kerrigan: Yes, I am different. I am my own master. When the xel’naga artifact made me human again, it cleansed me of Amon’s influence. And that allowed me to become … something greater.

supreme-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-18

Abathur: Must take sample. Study new sequences.

Kerrigan: Don’t even try, Abathur. What I am now, is beyond your comprehension.

supreme-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-19

Abathur: Difficult to admit. New structure beyond understanding. Will return to work.

The Crucible – StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm

Written by Medievaldragon on . Posted in StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm, StarCraft II: HOTS Single Player Transcript

Mission Briefing

Zurvan: Travel to the birthplace of the zerg. There you will be tested. You may be torn apart. If your rage makes you strong enough, the power of Zerus will be yours.

the-crucible-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-1

Cutscene

Zurvan: You have come to this place seeking power.

Kerrigan: Power to kill Mengsk. Tell me what I must do.

Zurvan: The power is more ancient even than I. It comes at great cost. What will you sacrifice to have your revenge?

Kerrigan: Everything.

Zurvan: You must feel the power. It calls to you. Go to it.

the-crucible-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-2

Izsha: The primal zerg have been alerted to your arrival. They are coming for you.

Kerrigan: Abathur, send me the creature you’ve been working on – the swarm host.

the-crucible-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-3

Abathur: Adapted using primal essence. Spawns locusts to kill enemies. Primal zerg inbound. root swarm hosts to begin spawning.

Kerrigan: Here they come.

Izsha: Primal forces eliminated. Your path is clear.

Zurvan: You are close. The moment draws near. Is your hate still strong enough to make the necessary sacrifice?

the-crucible-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-4

Kerrigan: It’s … a pool.

Zurvan: The first spawning pool. It existed before names. From this primordial place, the zerg arose. Within, one essence split into many. One devoured another and became stronger. the first zerg.

the-crucible-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-5

the-crucible-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-6

You will have your power, and you will lose yourself. Evolve. Transform. Transcend.

Abathur: Recommendation: avoid pool. Catalytic fluid will overwhelm queen’s body. Not strong enough.

Kerrigan: The queen’s hate is strong enough. And if I survive, it will remake me. I will become more powerful than the old Queen of Blades. Izsha, defend the hive cluster and the chrysalis until I am done… or dead.

the-crucible-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-7

Izsha: As you command.

[24:45] – Izsha: We need more swarm hosts… Morph more from the larvae at our hatchery.

[24:01] – Izsha: The remnants of Brakk’s forces gather nearby. They are preparing to attack the hive cluster! Root our swarm hosts and crawlers by that entrance!

[23:02] – Izsha: My queen, if you morph more drones you can gather minerals faster.

[21:25] – Izsha: I sense another pack of primal zerg gathering across the basin.

[21:20] – Yagdra: Hear me, broken zerg. You have killed Brakk, but his pack survives. I claim their territory, and their essence!

[20:42] – Izsha: The primal zerg factions have engaged each other. We must remain focused on protecting the chrysalis.

[20:18] – Yagdra: I have not forgotten you, broken pack. Your leader sleeps. She will not awake. My pack will feast upon your essence!

[20:03] – Izsha: Yagdra’s pack is preparing to attack our hive cluster! Ready our defenses!

[17:56] – Abathur: Entity Izsha. Have made important discovery. Primal essence gathering within pool. Can use. Spawn many locusts to defend hive cluster from primal attacks.

[17:41] – Another wave of primal zerg is inbound. Spawn the locusts now.

[14:23] – Izsha: I sense a massive primal zerg emerging. It seems to be wild.

[14:16] – Abathur: Tyrannozor. Savage. Extreme physical prowess. Essence useful, must acquire.

[14:07] – Izsha: That will not be easy. We will have to cross the battle between Brakk and Yagdra’s packs.

[13:34] – Izsha: Both packs are moving against us! Prepare for a pincer attack.

[12:29] – Izsha: Our queen’s metamorphosis is halfway complete! Maintain our defense!

[7:29] – Izsha: The primal zerg are destroying the rocks near the chrysalis!

[6:40] – Izsha: The primals have broken through the barricade! Defend the chrysalis!

[6:13] – Izsha: The chrysalis has opened! Our queen is beginning to awaken!

[4:49] – Izsha: My queen, completing bonus objectives will increase your power level.

[3:18] – Yagdra: My pack is strong! We claim essence, we devour! The broken zerg remain! Collect their essence! kill!

[3:06] – Izsha: Yagdra’s forces are gathering! They are converging upon the hive cluster!

[2:06] – Izsha: The chrysalis is under attack!

[2:03] – Abathur: Able to spawn locusts now.

[0:55] – Izsha: Defend the chrysalis! The Swarm will prevail!

Zurvan Conversation

Zurvan: You have questions.

the-crucible-leviathan-scenes-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-3

Kerrigan: The primal zerg say the Swarm is corrupted. What did the fallen xel’naga, Amon, do to us?

the-crucible-leviathan-scenes-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-4

Zurvan: He desired our strength, the ability to steal essence. But we were independent… We would not follow. And so he bound the zerg to a single overriding will. They lost their identity, and became his slaves.

Kerrigan: The hive mind. That’s Amon’s corruption?

Zurvan: It is, and a terrible fate for a strong primal zerg.

Izsha Conversation

Izsha: My queen, why did we wake the Ancient One? Its power outstrips even yours.

the-crucible-leviathan-scenes-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-5

Kerrigan: The Ancient One is the key to unlocking the power of Zerus, and I need that knowledge.

Izsha: Will it not destroy us?

Kerrigan: It’s called a gamble. It’s something terrans do, when their instincts tell them the time is right.

Izsha: I see. Just as when the terran James Raynor came to Char to return you to your original form?

Kerrigan: Yes, just like that. The thing about gambles, Izsha, is that sometimes you lose.

the-crucible-leviathan-scenes-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-6

Abathur Conversation

Abathur: Primal zerg. Unacceptable. Must be wiped clean. No trace left. Destroy primal zerg.

the-crucible-leviathan-scenes-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-7

Kerrigan: What are you talking about?

the-crucible-leviathan-scenes-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-8

Abathur: Saw ranged primal zerg creatures on battlefield? Based on hydralisk! Primal zerg stole design from Swarm! Swarm on planet for hours, days, already being replicated!

Kerrigan: Abathur, are you upset?

Abathur: Unacceptable! Swarm’s power, ability to assimilate strengths. Primal zerg must not take from us!

Kerrigan: Don’t worry about it. They’ll be on our side before I am done here.

Kerrigan: I sense something. An ancient consciousness … sleeping.

waking-the-ancient-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-2

Zeratul: The Ancient One. A primal zerg who witnessed the creation of the Overmind.

Kerrigan: You want me to awaken it, don’t you?

Zeratul: If you truly seek the power of Zerus, you will need the Ancient One.

waking-the-ancient-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-4

Izsha: My queen, enemy primals are massing nearby. They are going to attack us.

waking-the-ancient-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-5

Zeratul: They wish to stop you from speaking with the Ancient One. What will you do?

Kerrigan: What my enemies fear most. Always.

Zeratul: YOu are on the path, and no longer need my guidance. You will not see me again, Kerrigan.

Gameplay Dialogues

Kerrigan: So this is the Ancient One.

waking-the-ancient-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-7

Izsha: To awaken this creature, we must feed it.

Kerrigan: There’s a lot of biomass here. We’ll kill these quillgor and have drones harvest meat from their corpses. Once the drone is done harvesting, it will drag the biomass to the ancient.

waking-the-ancient-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-8

Brakk: Brakk speaks now! You intrude on my territory, corrupt zerg! We will devour your flesh!

Izsha: Warning. A force of primal zerg fliers is preparing to assault the hive cluster.

Abathur: Mutalisks reconstituted. Ready for your armies. Will destroy primal guardians.

Izsha: Primal zerg forces are massing nearby. They are likely to attack again.

Kerrigan: Let them try.

Kerrigan: This pack of quillgor is our first target. Let’s move out.

Izsha: Quillgor located. We must move quickly if we are to secure their biomass.

Izsha: A drone can harvest biomass from this quillgor. The process is slow, and our drone will be vulnerable. We must protect it while it harvests.

Kerrigan: We need to harvest this biomass quickly!

Brakk: She must not wake the ancient! Destroy the meat! Leave her nothing!

Kerrigan: We have to stop them. Our forces can intercept their raiding parties.

Izsha: Primal zerg forces incoming. Our drone must be protected. Primal forces are attacking quillgor biomass.

Brakk: Your arrogance is unacceptable! Zerus will consume you!

waking-the-ancient-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-11

Kerrigan: I’m sensing something primal nearby, but it’s small.

Abathur: Primal essence pool. Strong sequences. Approach, absorb essence. Will augment strength.

waking-the-ancient-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-12

Kerrigan: I feel stronger. This must be the power Zeratul spoke of.

Izsha: Brakk’s forces have destroyed quillgor biomass.

Brakk: Your Swarm is mindless. The primal zerg descend upon you!

Izsha: It is dangerous to harvest from multiple corpses. The primal zerg are sure to attack our drones.

Brakk: You grow greedy! It shall be your downfall!

Abathur: Primal organism detected. Function similar to hive, spawns primals. Annihilation recommended.

waking-the-ancient-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-13

Izsha: A drone is under attack by Brakk’s forces.

Izsha: Primal forces are attacking quillgor biomass.

Izsha: We should morph units that can attack flying units. Morphing hydralisks or queens will allow us to destroy the enemy’s fliers.

Completion

Brakk: This ends now, corrupt zerg! I will kill you myself!

Kerrigan: Defend the hive cluster!

waking-the-ancient-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-14

Brakk: Your empty minions are no match for the might of the primal zerg.

waking-the-ancient-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-15

Ancient One: I return.

Kerrigan: Ancient One! I am here for the power of Zerus. I will sacrifice anything to achieve my goal. You will help me.

waking-the-ancient-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-16

Ancient One: Your Swarm bears the mark of Amon, the fallen xel’naga, who came to Zerus long ago. He forged the zerg into a weapon, and took them away. Yet some of us were hidden, overlooked. We multiplied. We remain pure. If you seek our power, you must become primal zerg. You must become pure.

Claim the Power of Zerus – StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm

Claim the Power of Zerus

Zeratul: Zerus, birthworld of the zerg. It lies far beyond the Koprulu sector, where no terran has ventured.

You must go to that ancient place, Kerrigan. Learn its secrets and take its power.

Kerrigan: My need to see Mengsk dead called me here. These zerg will help me destroy Korhal.

claim-the-power-of-zerus-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-6

Zeratul: You must let Zerus remake you, Kerrigan! The final war nears, and there is little time.

Kerrigan: I don’t have to do a damn thing. I will not be a pawn in your prophecies.

Zeratul: But you will do anything to have your revenge?

Kerrigan: Anything.

Zeratul: Then that is enough.

Void Seeker Conversation

Kerrigan: Why are you helping, Zeratul? You have more cause to hate me than most.

claim-the-power-of-zerus-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-9

Zeratul: The xel’naga wish you restored as the leader of the Swarm.

Kerrigan: You know I don’t believe in your mad prophecies.

claim-the-power-of-zerus-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-10

Zeratul: Your belief is not required. I act for the greater good, though it earns me the hatred of my own people.

claim-the-power-of-zerus-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-11

Kerrigan: Spare me your self-pity, Zeratul. Everyone has to make peace with their own choices.

Zeratul: I made my peace long ago. When we are done here, I will return to my people, and accept their judgment.

Kerrigan: We all have to pay for our actions someday. I guess your day is almost here.

Izsha Conversation

Kerrigan: I’m looking through the eyes of my overlords. These primal zerg are fascinating. They show no signs of age.

claim-the-power-of-zerus-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-12

Izsha: All organisms age. Even zerg.

Kerrigan: But the primals feed off the essence of individuals. They’re in a state of constant evolution. They don’t die.

claim-the-power-of-zerus-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-13

Izsha: Until they are killed by another primal.

claim-the-power-of-zerus-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-14

Kerrigan: True. The most successful hunters among them must be incredibly ancient. And incredibly dangerous.

Birthworld (Cinematic) – StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm

Written by Medievaldragon on . Posted in StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm, StarCraft II: HOTS Single Player Transcript

Birthworld

Note: The Voidseeker approaches the zerg Leviathan.

birthworld-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-1

Kerrigan is meditating and detects a familiar psionic presence. Her zergling pet reacts.

birthworld-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-2

Kerrigan: Zeratul.

birthworld-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-4

Note: Zeratul decloaks. Kerrigan rushes toward him with anger, and punches him in the chest, followed by a roundkick to the face which knocks him back violently.

Before Zeratul lands, Kerrigan telekinetically stops his body mid-air, and slams him against a pillar behind her.

Zeratul lands on his knees and hands.

Kerrigan jumps about 15 feet high like a superhero and her right fist flares up with telekinetic force slamming against Zeratul with such a strength his shield resonates as if hit by a sonic boom.

Kerrigan is pushed back with the momentum of her punch.

Kerrigan runs toward Zeratul and lands another telekinetic-powered punch on his chest, catapulting him clear through the pillar.

Zeratul’s body finally lands on the ground on his back.

Kerrigan grabs his chest piece and pulls him slightly off the ground.

Kerrigan: What do you want?

Note: Zeratul doesn’t respond. Kerrigan becomes frustrated and anger shoots through her spine, powering another telekinetic punch aimed at Zeratul’s face. Before she lands the punch, Zeratul’s right hand grabs her entire face to mindmeld.

Zeratul: Believe!

Note: The camera aims on Kerrigan’s right eye, and zooms in into her corneas, showing a point of view that warps in into an unknown space sector. Kerrigan is now seeing through the eyes of Zeratul aboard the Voidseeker.

A green planet appears before her.

Zeratul: Kerrigan … I have been to the beginning. Behold … Zerus! Birthplace of the zerg. Here the zerg evolved, and here the dark one altered them.

Those left behind are the primal zerg. They fight. They kill. They evolve.

Note: The scene shown is two primal zergs fighting each other. One wins, eats its contender and evolves in real-time growing new eyes, and other features throughout its body.

The scene zooms out into orbit and through Kerrigan’s right eye back to the here and now, while Zeratul’s hand rests on her face.

Zeratul: Just as you must … if you survive.

Roach Evolution – StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm

Written by Medievaldragon on . Posted in StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm, StarCraft II: HOTS Single Player Transcript

Roach Evolution

Abathur: Roach strain ready for augmentation.

Protoss research facilities discovered. Experiments within useful to evolve Swarm.

Must acquired. Destroy protoss. Improve Swarm.

roach-evolution-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-1

Corpser Roach Evolution

Abathur: Planet Cantar. Concealed protoss facility.

roach-evolution-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-2

Abathur: Many protoss specimens. Captive scantipede is virulent parasite.

roach-evolution-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-3

Kerrigan: Well then, why don’t we let it out to play?

Abathur: Implants parasites into host. Erupt from corpse. Essence must be ours. Protoss must not destroy!

roach-evolution-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-4

Abathur: Essence acquired. Roaches modified with parasitic sequence.

Corpser strain: implants roachling parasite. Erupts from enemy’s corpse.

Kerrigan: Push forward. Leave no survivors.

Zealot: Zerg!

Kerrigan: Let the roachlings attack the enemy first!

Abathur: Protoss destroyed, scantipede essence secure.

roach-evolution-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-5

Vile Roach Evolution

Abathur: Planet Mehlus IV. Environment used to guide evolution.

roach-evolution-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-6

Microbial organisms reproduce within pool.

roach-evolution-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-7

Generations of roaches ordered to consume. Most … organs sieze up. Die.

Survivors adapted. Formed symbiotic bond with microbes.

New strain: vile roach. Ready for command.

Kerrigan>: I sense protoss forces nearby. Let’s see these new roaches in combat.

Abathur: Vile strain: acid saliva coats enemy. Slows movement, slows attacks.

Immortal: Systems unresponsive. Cannot… attack.

roach-evolution-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-8

Archon: Remain… focused.

Zealot: Abominations!

Zealot: Difficult… to move.

Abathur: Vile strain successful. Protoss eliminated.

Must prepare sequences. Returning to evolution pit.

Enemy Within (Epilogue) – StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm

Written by Medievaldragon on . Posted in StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm, StarCraft II: HOTS Single Player Transcript

Enemy Within (Epilogue)

Kerrigan: There’s no turning back now.

Izsha: I do not understand.

Kerrigan: The protoss will never forgive what I’ve done here. If my becoming human again eased their fears … well, I’ve given them new reasons to be afraid. But I’m not going to wait for them to come after me. I’ll strike first.

enemy-within-epilogue-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-1

Leviathan Bridge

Izsha: Our leviathan is able to travel to another world at your command.

starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-enemy-within-epilogue-bridge-banner

Izsha Conversation

Kerrigan: It is done. The Golden Armada will never know we were here.

Izsha: I am glad that protoss is no longer aboard our leviathan. Her psionic presence was disturbing.

enemy-within-epilogue-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-2

Kerrigan: She died bravely, trying to save her friends.

Izsha: Why do you care how the protoss died?

Kerrigan: I will kill anyone in my way. That doesn’t mean I enjoy it.

Izsha: Even Arcturus Mengsk, my queen? Will his death bring you no joy?

Kerrigan: Stop talking, Izsha.

enemy-within-epilogue-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-3

Abathur Conversation

Abathur: Placed parasite into protoss host.

enemy-within-epilogue-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-4

Kerrigan: Yes. What about it?

Abathur: Clever. Lateral thinking. Protoss not able to be infested. But can still be host to foreign organism. Origins of parasite unknown.

Kerrigan: I made it, Abathur. You’re not the only one who can spin sequences.

Abathur: Revelation. Will continue work.

Cutscene

Kerrigan: One of your ships escaped.

starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-enemy-within-2

Lasarra: Then you need only await the Golden Armada. Your death will be swift.

starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-enemy-within-3

Kerrigan: I’m sorry.

Lasarra: For what? Slaughtering my people?

Kerrigan: For what I must do to you. Your friends on that ship can sense you. They know they left one behind.

starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-enemy-within-4

Note: Kerrigan’s hand opens to reveal a zerg larva. She throws it into Lasarra’s torso and infests her.

Lasarra: No…

Kerrigan: But they can’t warp you to their ship, because I’m blocking them.

Lasarra: No, no!

starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-enemy-within-5

Kerrigan: But if I drop the veil…

Lasarra: Do not warp me in, Templar! Do not-

starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-enemy-within-6

Izsha: You let the other protoss take her?

Kerrigan: She will be their death.

Gameplay

Lasarra: The Templar must be warned…

starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-enemy-within-7

Kerrigan: Now.

Note: Lasarra groans in agony, and explodes. The larva spawns from Lasarra’s remains.

starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-enemy-within-8

Kerrigan: Listen carefully. This ship contains many dangers. Follow my commands and hide in the shadows. You will consume and grow. Infest this ship and kill every last protoss onboard. Now go, and spawn your brood.

Kerrigan: A zealot! Use your parasitic invasion to hide within that creature.

Note: The larva gains a new ability – Parasitic Invasion [Q]: Causes the Larva to leap toward the targeted creature, infest it, and take control.

starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-enemy-within-9

Zealot: What was that noise?

Kerrigan: Alright, he’s gone. Consume your host and move on.

Note: The larva gains a new ability – Consume Host [W]: Devours the creature from within, giving biomass to the zerg.

Kerrigan: A sentry! Hide in the steam vents until it passes.

starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-enemy-within-10

Sentry: Creep detected. Priority One: Established. All other priorities rescinded. Patrolling.

Kerrigan: There’s no way around those zealots. Invade the ursadon and crush them.

starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-enemy-within-11

Zealot: The zerg have infested the ursadon!

Kerrigan: So the protoss think they have a few infested animals… They have no idea what they’re up against.

Kerrigan: The time has come for you to grow into a broodmother. Stop here. This area is safe from prying eyes. Evolve. Grow.

Note: Niadra gains a new ability – Birth Zergling [W]: Fast melee unit. Leaps over obstacles and onto targets from range. Deals increased damage. Can morph into a Baneling. (Raptor Strain)

Kerrigan: You are Niadra. This is your purpose: spawn a brood and destroy the protoss.

starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-enemy-within-12

Niadra: I live to serve. Kill these creatures. I can consume their biomass and use it to grow our brood.

Expedition Leader: The zerg have infiltrated our vessel! Warriors, destroy them!

Niadra: Tear down their defenses! Nothing stops the Swarm!

Niadra: This vent is our only way forward! Go!

Niadra: There! That structure powers this shield!

Niadra: The shield no longer blocks my path. Let us move forward. A strong energy emanates from this part of the ship. What is its purpose?

Niadra: The energy… it is overwhelming.

Kerrigan: You’ve found their warp drive! Destroy it and this vessel will never reach Shakuras!

Niadra: The shield is down! I’ll destroy the warp drive myself!

starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-enemy-within-13

Protoss Vessel: Warning. A warp drive breach has occurred. Evacuate immediately.

Expedition Leader: contain them! The zerg must not reach the stasis chambers!

Niadra: You will not hold back the Swarm!

Note: A cutscene plays: The Warp Drive explodes.

Niadra: The explosions have stopped.

Kerrigan: Wait, there is a disturbance in the chamber ahead.

Protoss vessel: Emergency. Power failure detected. Awakening protoss warriors from stasis.

starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-enemy-within-14

Kerrigan: It’s time to evolve, and expand your control over your brood, Niadra.

Expedition Leader: Exterminate the specimens! Do not allow the zerg to consume them!

Niadra: Kill their warriors! I must have that biomass!

starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-enemy-within-16

Kerrigan: You must evolve, grow stronger. The final battle approaches.

Niadra: Do not let them kill the ursadon! The Ursadon is mine. Come beast, we have protoss to destroy.

Kerrigan: The protoss are fortifying the bridge. Prepare your forces.

starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-enemy-within-17

Expedition Leader: The ship has taken us as far as it can! Prepare the escape pods!

Kerrigan: Destroy the pods before they launch! The protoss must not reach Shakuras!

starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-enemy-within-18

Niadra: They prepare more escape pods! Destroy them!

Expedition Leader: We will never be defeated. We give our lives for the Khala!

Niadra: Yes… you will.

Cutscene

Niadra: The protoss are no more, my queen. My queen, can you hear me? We are alone. The Queen of Blades has given us one purpose: to destroy the protoss. We will be prepared… We will serve again.

Kerrigan: What kind of improvement?

enemy-within-bridge-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-12

Abathur: Answer complex. Can branch evolution of fully evolved zergling, form two new strains.

Kerrigan: Then add them to the Swarm, Abathur.

enemy-within-bridge-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-13

Abathur: Strains mutually exclusive. Will compete in sequence. One must be chosen. Other must be discarded.

Kerrigan: Fine, make some of each; I want to see them in action.

enemy-within-bridge-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-14

Abathur: Will set up tests for both. Initiate from evolution pit.

Kerrigan: A warp conduit. I sense millions of protoss minds on the other side… Shakuras! If a single shuttle passes through they can alert Shakuras to our presence.

shoot-the-messenger-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-3

Izsha: Should we destroy it then?

Kerrigan: No, they would detect that. Our only choice is to stop their shuttles from reaching the conduit.

Gameplay

Kerrigan: Nafash’s hydralisks! Abathur, assimilate their essence into the Swarm.

Abathur: Hydralisk reconstituted. Can morph from larva.

Kerrigan: I need more hydralisks to destroy these shuttles.

Izsha: We should morph more hydralisks to destroy the enemy’s flying units.

Izsha: My queen, the protoss have launched a shuttle. It is enroute to a warp conduit.

Kerrigan: Not if I have anything to say about it. We will bring down that shuttle!

Expedition Leader: Engage the hive directly! Our shuttles must break through!

Kerrigan: You will never leave this ball of ice!

Izsha: My queen, the protoss were gathering biological samples and storing them in these stasis chambers.

Kerrigan: We’ll destroy the chambers, and take the biomass if we can.

shoot-the-messenger-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-4

Izsha: The protoss launched another shuttle. This one is accompanied by a fighter escort.

Expedition Leader: You cannot stop us all, Kerrigan!

Izsha: The protoss launched another shuttle. It’s bearing towards an unknown location.

Kerrigan: They’re bringing more warp conduits online. I sense two more activating.

Izsha: A protoss shuttle has reached the warp conduit! It must be destroyed before it jumps out of the system.

Izsha: The protoss are launching shuttles from a new base.

Kerrigan: Well, that makes things a little more complicated.

Abathur: Large quantities of biomass. Good to have. Can use to improve Swarm.

Note: Nafash’s hive cluster is found east of your hive base, by the corner of the map.

Kerrigan: This hive cluster now belongs to the Swarm.

shoot-the-messenger-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-5

Kerrigan: Another chamber destroyed. What were the protoss doing with all this biomass?

The protoss are launching two sets of shuttles. Tenacious bastards.

Izsha: I am sensing a protoss psionic matrix. Your forces are nearing the enemy’s base.

Izsha: The protoss have launched more shuttles.

Expedition Leader: One shuttle through the conduit, and you will feel the might of the Golden Armada!

shoot-the-messenger-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-6

Izsha: The protoss have launched more shuttles.

Kerrigan: The protoss launched three shuttles at once! They’re bearing towards the same conduit!

Izsha: The protoss have launched a mothership.

Kerrigan: They must be using it to cloak shuttles.

Kerrigan: All forces, defend the central conduit! Tear their ships from the sky!

shoot-the-messenger-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-7

Cutscene

Kerrigan: That’s the last. The warp conduits are useless to them now.

shoot-the-messenger-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm-single-player-8

Izsha: You’ve done it, my queen. The protoss threat is removed.

Kerrigan: Nothing is done until they are all dead.

Kerrigan: I justify nothing. There is no moral high ground here. Your people have killed billions of zerg. We are all covered in blood. There may be more on my hands than yours, but in the end we are both killers.

Izsha: For zerg, it is. Whatever my queen has lost, think what she has gained: Purity of essence. You are the will of the Swarm.

Project Blackstone to End Soon

Written by Medievaldragon on . Posted in Project Blackstone, StarCraft 2 News, StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm

A few days ago, Cameron Dayton mentioned in Twitter Project Blackstone is coming to an end very soon. Today there was a wave of Twitter activity among the Project Blackstone characters.

This has been by far the longest episode with the crew coming together for survival as the zerg experiments have been set loose by Held. ex-Ghost Academy cadet Dr. Winlaleah Martine and Dr. Talise Cogan have gone missing. All protoss specimens but one have been killed by Held.

Anything might happen with these three loose ends, as the finale approaches. Will the crew survive? Will there be casualties or sacrifices? Bring some popcorn, and visit the Project Blackstone website and the Project Blackstone twitter feed.

Cameron Dayton: Final chapters of #ProjectBlackstone just sent off to copy-edit. My fingertips are bruised, but this campaign is starting to look finito. — twitter

I want fans to know that Senior Story developer Cameron Dayton will depart Blizzard Entertainment for personal matters. He’s moving to Arizona. However, he will do some freelancing for Blizzard Entertainment, which makes me happy. At least we will continue to see new work from him in the future from time to time. Please, send your appreciation and good wishes at @CameronDayton for his contribution to the lore community.

Project Blackstone – Is the UED here under the Dominion’s nose?

Written by Medievaldragon on . Posted in Project Blackstone, StarCraft 2 News

Sorry for the radio silence. I took a sabbatical for a few days. Got a few Glory of the Hero achievements, and had a Marvel Digital Comics marathon. Ok … a geeky sabbatical.

Cracks knuckles — back to business. The Project Blackstone website was updated recently with Log # 11.

This new entry has some interesting revelations. Some subliminal.

11-ultralisk-project-blackstone

Dr. Rothfuss’s secret allegiance

First, Dr. Daniel Rothfuss reveals to Dr. Talen Ayers that he is a sort of spy. He’s not serving the Terran Dominion and Emperor Mengsk. He is not a spy of the Kel-Morian Combine nor a spy of the Umojan. Dr. Daniel Rothfuss is serving the best interests of humanity.

Now this is intriguing. From the beginning of Project Blackstone, we know that all communications are filtered and read by the security staff. Recently, Dr. Rothfuss provided Dr. Talen Ayers a scrambler to communicate safely away from prying eyes — a highly advanced encryption technology to bypass the Project Blackstone security.

Who does Rothfuss serve? How comes he has better technology than the Terran Dominion — and yet Rothfuss doesn’t work for the Kel-Morian nor the Umojans? Yet he serves humanity.

This makes me ponder. Is Rothfuss a spy of the United Earth Protectorate (UED)?

I remember Chris Metzen commented once the UED were not using their technology in their appearance in StarCraft: Brood War. Basically, the UED used stolen Confederate technology.

In short, we don’t know how advanced Earth-bound technology is in relation to the Koprulu’s Confederate and Dominion technology.

In our recent video aired by the NASL.TV we discuss presicely this. With the re-introduction of Vice-Admiral Stukov in Heart of the Swarm, we wonder whether Blizzard is planning to visit a post-apocalyptic Earth in StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void, or another StarCraft video game.

I will leave you with a thought. It took the original supercarriers 28 years to reach the Koprulu sector. That was old technology. How long did it take the UED to reach the Koprulu sector, however? The answer is simple. It is subliminal in StarCraft: Brood War. Admiral Gerard DuGalle sent a message to his wife as the Battlecruisers attempted to escape Kerrigan. The message he sent before he shot himself. Mere months? Weeks? Days?

Admiral Gerard DuGalle: “Dearest Helena, – By now, the news of our defeat has reached the Earth. – The creatures we were sent here to tame are un-tamable. – and the colonies we were sent to reclaim have proven to be stronger than we anticipated. – Whatever you may hear about what has happened out here, know this; – Alexei did not die gloriously in battle. – I killed him. My pride killed him. – And now my pride has consumed me as well. – You will never see me again, Helena. – Tell our children that I love them, – and that their father died in defense of their future. – Au revoir.”

Dominion Technology Flaw

Is the Terran Dominion and Confederate technology safe? This entry makes you question whether the UED presence in the Koprulu sector is still ongoing at large.

Yes, we have seen UED survivors out there. In StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, when you visit the Cantina, you can hire UED mercenaries. Those who remained behind.

Rothfuss says: “Over the past few centuries, Dominion technology has made commendable advances in the blunt science of military strength: better armor, better weapons, and frighteningly obedient soldiers. But there has been surprisingly little progress in the fields of encryption and machine language. Significant portions of the original ATLAS coding and functionality still exist in your adjutants like familiar old dinosaurs. My guess is that dependence on the servile and deliberately limited sapience of these automatons has allowed for intellectual complacency in those fields, especially since the more exciting horizons of extrasolar planets and xenoscience have been within your grasp.”

Little lore background here. Back when the supercarriers left Earth in year 2231, The ATLAS was the artificial intelligence aboard the supercarrier Nagglfar. The other supercarriers had no artificial intelligence. Instead, the Argo, Reagan and Sarengo supercarriers followed the supercarrier Nagglfar’s navigation system signal.

Rothfuss says the current Adjutants still use portions of the original ATLAS artificial intelligence. In short, it’s a very old technology that the UED knows well. This tells me the UED might be able to have a presence in the Koprulu sector keeping themselves stealthed to the eye of the Terran Dominion, and furthermore be able to tap into Terran Dominion computers.

This entry is evidence it was easy for the UED to raid a Confederate outpost or armory by easily infiltrating their computer network. Remember — all those tanks, battlecruisers, wraiths, valkyries, and goliaths the UED used in StarCraft: Brood War … none of those were UED technology. The UED likely defeated a few Confederate outposts, and re-purposed the Confederate weaponry and vessels — keeping Earth technology hidden from the Confederate and Terran Dominion’s reach.

Project Blackstone Secrets

Dr. Rothfuss tells Dr. Talen Ayers he is read in the computer files a lot of the Project Blackstone secrets. Among them:

”Because you are not just building weapons to protect humanity, Talen. You are being used. My exploration through the personnel files opened up some frightening avenues. For instance, did you know that Dr. Vera Langridge (Xenobotanist) has an entire level of the facility dedicated to xenoflora that can control human thought? Not alien thought. That’s right—Mengsk has a section of this facility dedicated to controlling his own subjects. And that is only one of seven isolated levels hidden beneath this one. All are taking your research into dark places that you know nothing about. All are completely off the books.

And your friend Dr. Warren G. Held (Xenobiologist, Senior Protoss Specialist) is still on-site. He has been moved down to a sub-level, along with a handful of psi-blocked protoss.”

Extras

Dr. Ariel Hanson (Planet Agria) is the daughter of Dr. Talise Cogan (Project Blackstone Xenobiologist) and Dr. Bernard Hanson — as revealed in Ariel’s bios (Battle.net).

Dr. Maren Ayer — daughter of Dr. Talen Ayer, debuted in the StarCraft II website’s short story: Broken Wide (by Cameron Dayton). The story about the Zerg Banelings.

Project Blackstone – Chit Chat Among Telepaths

Written by Medievaldragon on . Posted in Project Blackstone, StarCraft 2 News

starcraft-the-dark-templar-firstborn-front-coverToday’s Project Blackstone (Twitter) has a friendly talk between Xenobiologist Dr. Winlaleah Martine (former Ghost Academy trainee) and Protoss Specialist/Archaeologist Jake Ramsey.

Winlaleah takes the opportunity to thank Jake for rescuing her from Senior Protoss Specialist Dr. Warren G. Held in the recent BioLab 4 incident.

Jake talks about his close encounter experience when Zamara’s mind was merged within his own brain — as seen in the pages of the StarCraft: Dark Templar trilogy by New York Times bestselling author Christie Golden.

I got a bit curious. Recently, Jake Ramsey and Dr. Talen Ayers were discussing what happened in the BioLab 4 incident.

Jake had called for help to save Winlaleah from Dr. Warren Held. However, because of his telepathic sensitivity Jake understood he might have actually saved Dr. Warren from her instead. She was a former Ghost Academy trainee, with the martial art prowess and lethality of a ghost.

Apparently, Winlaleah had triggered some thoughts within Dr. Warren with her telepathy to force him to cause the incident — as seen in #09 Chat Log at the Project Blackstone website. Possibly so she could have an excuse to beat him up.

Jake asked Winlaleah indirectly to set up his trap — I guess, attempting to get a confession from her of what truly happened in that incident. However, she elegantly changes the subject when Jake Ramsey brings it up in today’s Twitter conversation.

Dr. Leah A. Martine: I never thanked you for helping me last week. I can’t believe Held actually had a psychotic breakdown.

Dr. Leah A. Martine: Well… maybe I can.

Dr. Leah A. Martine: I’m glad you were there.

Dr. Jake Ramsey: Don’t mention it. Seemed like you had things under control, to be perfectly honest.

Dr. Jake Ramsey: I’m curious, though–did you ever pick up on any warning signs from Held?

Dr. Leah A. Martine: So a teep should’ve seen it coming, right? You seem to know a lot about telepathy for someone who’s mostly hard-shell.

Dr. Leah A. Martine: Tell me, professor: while the protoss was in your mind, could you predict every single action the people around you might take?

Dr. Leah A. Martine: If so, you were a stronger telepath than I am.

Dr. Jake Ramsey: When Zamara was a part of me, I knew things–things even some protoss don’t know. But I was never in complete control.

Dr. Jake Ramsey: You are. I can’t explain it, but I get the feeling you’re attuned to people better than you think.

Dr. Leah A. Martine: Thanks. Though I still have my doubts.

Dr. Leah A. Martine: I have to say that I’m amazed at how perceptive you are, even if it is involuntary.

Dr. Leah A. Martine: Your mind is a joy to witness. The way your thoughts flash & shift. The complexity & unpredictability of your mental landscape.

Dr. Jake Ramsey: You know, I think you’re the first person I’ve met who’s described an archaeologist’s mind as anything but ponderous.

Dr. Jake Ramsey: But thanks. Guess I should get started on prepping for our next round of tests.

Dr. Leah A. Martine: Hang on, professor. Are you trying to hide your thoughts from me?

Dr. Jake Ramsey: It’s only natural, isn’t it? With all the surveillance on this rock, thoughts are the only privacy we have.

Dr. Leah A. Martine: True enough. But if you ever want to discuss telepathy again, let me know. I could teach you a few things.

Project Blackstone – Infested Terran Analysis

Written by Medievaldragon on . Posted in Project Blackstone, StarCraft 2 News

The Project Blackstone website added #10 Chat Log. It’s a secure communication transmission between Chief Engineer Redell Quinton and Senior Zerg Specialist and Xenobiologist Dr. Talen Ayers.

Redell has a little gadget that allows him to bypass Project Blackstone’s monitoring of communications.

Redell just got a dead Infested Terran to dismantle in order to figure out how the zerg altered the inorganic weapons held by Marines. The weapons are attached to the Infested Terran through tendons and veins.

Chief of Research Dr. Helek Branamoor is getting pressure from Mengsk’s office to research new weaponry systems based on Zerg and Protoss technology.

During this conversation, it’s revealed Project Blackstone facility is built within an asteroid, and likely located somewhere near Deadman’s Rock.

Project Blackstone – Overlord Post-Mortem Psionic Echo

Written by Medievaldragon on . Posted in Project Blackstone, StarCraft 2 News

Recently, it was revealed the zerg didn’t change much of the original Overlord creatures assimilated by the zerg. (Source: Project Blackstone website, #07 Message)

The latest Project Blackstone communication via Twitter explores a bit of an enigma concerning zerg Overlords.

07-overlord

This conversation is composed of Xenobiologist Dr. Talise Cogan and Xenobiologist Dr. Leah A. Martine.

As discovered a few days ago, Leah is actually Winlaleah Martine — former Ghost Academy trainee (Tokyopop manga — StarCraft: Ghost Academy by Keith R.A. DeCandido).

Dr. Talise Cogan: Do you mind if I pick your brain, Dr.? I understand you’re an expert in psionic neurology.

Dr. Talise Cogan: I’m going over my notes from a few weeks ago, and I’m struggling with a question.

Dr. Leah A. Martine: Of course.

Dr. Talise Cogan: Specifically, I want to talk to you about the zerg overlord.

Dr. Talise Cogan: For lack of a better word, is it possible for psionic neurons to emit an “echo” after brain death?

Dr. Leah A. Martine: Do you mean neurons salvaged from the overlord’s brain at the moment of its death? A cultured neuronal network with an MEA?

Dr. Leah A. Martine: That seems like a rather old-fashioned approach, so I’m thinking you must have something else in mind.

Dr. Talise Cogan: We estimate that this overlord has been dead for quite a while. My investigation in this area is purely incidental.

Dr. Talise Cogan: But I found that I was bombarded with despair whenever I dissected the specimen.

Dr. Talise Cogan: My previous procedures with other zerg species were unremarkable in this respect.

Dr. Talise Cogan: It is a phenomenon I have only experienced with the overlord.

Dr. Talise Cogan: That’s why I’m bringing this to you. I suspect that the emotion originated from the overlord. Is that possible?

Dr. Leah A. Martine: In that case, no. It was well into a state of decay, incapable of generating the impulses required for psionic communication.

Dr. Talise Cogan: But the zerg habitus is so adaptable. Our science has a poor record of charting its course.

Dr. Talise Cogan: Perhaps a new mutation has allowed the overlord to give off post-mortem psionic emanations of grief?

Dr. Leah A. Martine: Sometimes there’s room for doubt and speculation, but not here. The zerg aren’t magic; dead still means dead.

Dr. Leah A. Martine: I suspect that this was a product of your imagination. If you don’t mind my saying so.

Dr. Talise Cogan: Not at all. Thank you, Dr.

Project Blackstone – April’s Fool Joke

Written by Medievaldragon on . Posted in Project Blackstone, StarCraft 2 News

Kinda amusing the StarCraft II April’s Fool joke concerning the Warhound unit playable by Terran, Zerg and Protoss meshed smoothly with today’s Project Blackstone Twitter update.

warhound-war-pigs-logoDr. Helek Branamoor: I can’t make any sense of those last transmissions from the Dominion. Please clarify.

Adjutant 33-27: Yes, Dr. Branamoor. The signal strength was unexpectedly low, but most of the information is intact.

Adjutant 33-27: ‘BEGIN MESSAGE: ALL DOMINION FORCES BE ON LOOKOUT FOR MISSING TRANSPORT CRAFT.’

Adjutant 33-27: ‘ONLY ONE OF THREE AXIOM ORDNANCE TRANSPORTS ACCOUNTED FOR (ON KORHAL.)’

Adjutant 33-27: ‘FIRST MISSING TRANSPORT LAST SEEN ON MISTAFF IV. PLANET HAS BEEN OVERRUN BY ZERG FORCES.’

Adjutant 33-27: ‘SECOND MISSING TRANSPORT MISJUMPED TO GYRAS SYSTEM (PROTOSS-CONTROLLED).’

Adjutant 33-27: The rest of the message deals with search grid patterns and other protocols, none of which apply to this installation.

Dr. Helek Branamoor: You’re telling me that Axiom Ordnance sent out three transports filled with Warhounds… but only one arrived?

Adjutant 33-27: Yes, Dr. Branamoor.

Dr. Helek Branamoor: And the zerg have overrun Mistaff IV? What the hell is happening out there?

Dr. Helek Branamoor: Route a query to Axiom immediately. Ask if those Warhounds incorporated our modifications. I will not take the blame for this.

Adjutant 33-27: Axiom Ordnance representatives confirmed two days ago that they did incorporate our specifications.

Dr. Helek Branamoor: Damnit.

Dr. Helek Branamoor: Have there been any other transmissions from the Dominion regarding the Warhounds? Specifically ones routed directly to us?

Adjutant 33-27: No, Dr. Branamoor.

Dr. Helek Branamoor: Good.

Project Blackstone – Warhound

Written by Medievaldragon on . Posted in Project Blackstone, StarCraft 2 News

Today Project Blackstone definitely broke the pattern posting Twitter entries four days in a row. The 15th Anniversary of StarCraft is in two days — Sunday, March 31st.

The Warhound is on the spotlight in this Twitter update. Yesterday, a new short story titled Command Performance by Alex Irvine appeared in the official StarCraft II website featuring the Warhound.

Dr. Daniel Rothfuss: I’ve been over your Warhound modifications – some impressive attempts at streamlining here, Red.

Red Quinton: Thanks, old timer. Are you part of Branmoor’s review process now?

Dr. Daniel Rothfuss: Ha, no not at all. Just poking around some of the schematics you stored here on the network. Nothing too formal.

Red Quinton: Poking around in my high-security, encoded files, huh? I like you already.

Dr. Daniel Rothfuss: Oh were they protected? My apologies.

Red Quinton: No apologies required – like I said, I’m impressed that an old coot like yourself knows how to hack into protected files.

Dr. Daniel Rothfuss: Oh, I dabble in machine language. A hobby, really. May I ask you about these Warhound modifications you’ve got planned?

Red Quinton: Fire away

Dr. Daniel Rothfuss: I see you’ve stripped out the pilot security template to allow for quicker construction and an overall boost in system power.

Dr. Daniel Rothfuss: Do you have any concerns about leaving such a powerful weapon with the keys in the ignition?

Red Quinton: These babies are going up against aliens, gramps. Do we really need a thumb-scanner to protect against Grand Theft Warhound?

Red Quinton: Can’t imagine a roach hijacking our mech for a spin around the block. And the protoss wouldn’t set foot in that tin can.

Dr. Daniel Rothfuss: I’m just pointing out vulnerabilities, my friend. Never underestimate an enemy that can travel between the stars.

Red Quinton: I like the way you think, Dan. What do you say we grab a drink after work and chew the fat?

Dr. Daniel Rothfuss: Oh how grand.

This new entry makes me wonder if Rothfuss had anything to do with framing Redell Quinton in a recent Project Blackstone update. It’s hard to tell if some of the strange incidents and character slip ups are or not red herrings.

Project Blackstone – Biolab 4 Incident

Written by Medievaldragon on . Posted in Project Blackstone, StarCraft 2 News

Project Blackstone Twitter entries usually get posted every 2-4 days. Sometimes two days in a row at most. It’s the fourth Twitter entry in a row, a change in the pattern, which makes me think the increase is tied as a silent countdown to the StarCraft 15th Anniversary (March 31). I might be wrong, so don’t get your hopes too high.

We’ll have to wait and see.

Dr. Warren Held: Everything set up for the intracranial investigation of specimen AP-05?

Dr. Leah A. Martine: Yes, Dr. Held. All surfaces prepped and tools ready.

Dr. Warren Held: I certainly hope ALL of my tools are where I left them this time. If your sloppiness costs me one more valuable.

Dr. Warren Held: This is inexcusable.

Dr. Warren Held: Inexcusable. INEXCUSABLE.

Elsewhere

Dr. Talen Ayers: What’s all the commotion down in BioLab 4? I’m trying to scrub Overlord brain-matter off the walls in peace over here.

Dr. Jake Ramsey: Not sure – our next procedure doesn’t start for a few hours. Leah was down there doing prep work with

Dr. Jake Ramsey: Damnit.

Dr. Jake Ramsey: Leah, please respond.

Dr. Jake Ramsey: Winlaleah?

Dr. Jake Ramsey: I’m heading down. Something doesn’t feel right.

Shortly after

Adjutant 33-27: Major Treicher, we have an altercation on Biolab 4.

Major Lee Treicher: I’ll be right there.

Conclusion

Dr. Jake Ramsey: Thanks for helping Dr. Martine today, Red. Sounds like things got rough in there.

Red Quinton: Shoot, son. That lady didn’t need my help. I was trying to save Held’s life.

Red Quinton: He came at her with a scalpel. She practically put him through the fekkin wall. Five more seconds and she would’ve ended him.

Dr. Jake Ramsey: They’ve been at each other’s throats for a while now. Tangling with a Ghost Academy alumni is something I wouldn’t recommend.

Red Quinton: Wait wait wait. Hold on a second. She’s a ghost?

Dr. Jake Ramsey: Pretty much. I haven’t asked her about it. I just know Leah’s been through a lot.

Red Quinton: “Leah”? You sweet on her?

Dr. Jake Ramsey: What? No.

Dr. Jake Ramsey: Not at all. It’s just, if you’re working with someone, you might as well get to know them.

Red Quinton: You sly dog!

Red Quinton: “How you doing, Jakey?” “My bed’s got room for two, Leah.” You got that brooding, hurt puppy look the ladies love.

Dr. Jake Ramsey: You’re telling me you don’t chat it up with Dr. Foster outside the machine shop?

Red Quinton: Course I do, but she’s long since made clear I ain’t her type. And stop changing the subject. You’re into her, aint’cha?

Dr. Jake Ramsey: We’re about as different as they come. That “opposites attract” crap? Doesn’t apply here.

Dr. Jake Ramsey: I mean looking at it objectively, sure. There’s something to her. She’s brilliant. Strong. Independent.

Red Quinton: That’s a lot of words to avoid saying “no,” buddy.

Dr. Jake Ramsey: Red, the answer is no. I’ve got someone else. Someone waiting for me.

Red Quinton: Yeah, but we’re in comms blackout here. She’d never need to know. Get busy, man!

Dr. Jake Ramsey: Just drop it Red. Fekking drop it.

Red Quinton: Whoa whoa whoa , easy tiger. I was just teasing you. Sorry.

Red Quinton: Jake? You alright, man? I really was just kidding. Didn’t mean to stir nothing up.

Dr. Jake Ramsey: Don’t worry about it.

Update: 9pm EST – the official Project Blackstone website has been updated. Entry Log # 8 and #9 happen after the Biolab 4 incident (read above).

Based on the conversation between Dr. Jacob Ramsey and Dr. Talen Ayers, there is something to be learned about Talen’s daughter — Maren Ayers. She was the main character of Cameron Dayton’s 2010 Short Story: Broken Wide (Banelings)

Jacob Ramsey is confirmed to have feelings for Rosemary Dahl (StarCraft: The Dark Templar), and she’s waiting for him.

A new image was unlocked. It is the Warhound mentioned a few days ago. Something cool about it is the shield on the Warhound’s left-arm is the War Pigs logo (Wiki). This is the Dominion mercenary team which debuted in the DC Comics StarCraft # 1-8 series. — check out the Project Blackstone website.

Project Blackstone – Winlaleah Martine from StarCraft: Ghost Academy

Written by Medievaldragon on . Posted in Project Blackstone, StarCraft 2 News

I have a feeling Project Blackstone and the StarCraft 15th Anniversary are tied somehow. Out of the blue, I have seen Project Blackstone characters tweet several times throughout the day on the 25th, 26th, and today 27th.

A few days ago, Cameron Dayton was upgraded to Senior Story Developer. On March 22, 2013, Blizzard Entertainment celebrated the 15th Anniversary early, last week, toasting and showering each other with dozens of bottles of champagne.

Something curious is there was a toast to Project Blackstone at the 15th Anniversary celebration. Are there signs of something in the horizon? Will Blizzard announce something related to Project Blackstone on March 31? Or … during the South Korea big eSports Announcement (April 3)? (i.e. major game announcements have been done at Tokyo Game Show, Blizzard Worldwide Invitationals in Seoul & France, and at GamesCom)

Today, in Project Blackstone, protoss tools — acquired by the Terran Dominion and delivered to Project Blackstone — have gone missing. Strange things are happening lately at the top-secret research center. Somehow there is always the lingering hint that Jacob Ramsey is involved in these mysterious incidents.

Recently Redell Quinton was framed for the disappearance of supplies that technically could be associated as materials for a alcohol distillery. Curiously, the same night Jacob Ramsey was found light-headed on the floor, and he was escorted to his quarters.

Now it is Protoss tools missing. The flavor dialogue seems to hint at Jacob Ramsey being involved. He did never reply Leah’s question if he knew where the tools were — unless Jake’s insinuated involvement in the incidents have been a deliberate red herring all along, and instead there is more than meets the eye going on.

Recently, I theorized two ways how Redell could have been framed: mind-control, or computer log hacking. Ramsey seems to have developed telepathy, but new story entries indicate he’s not fully aware of it. So far, Dr. Jacob Ramsey mainly listens to mental distress-related thoughts from the protoss captive within Project Blackstone, or from fellow workers.

That leaves the computer hacking and the mysterious incidents open to a potential character involved: Lio Travski. That hasn’t been proven correct nor wrong. The mystery continues.

Today’s Project Blackstone Twitter entries reveal more exciting things. The true identity of @LeahAMartine — right under our very noses these past month and a half.

In this story, you will see Dr. Jake Ramsey, Xenobiologist Dr. Leah A. Martine, and Xenobiologist Senior Protoss Specialist Dr. Warren Held.

March 27

Dr. Warren Held: @LeahAMartine I’ve asked you before not to touch my hagedorn needles. There will not be a third reminder, doctor.

Dr. Leah A. Martine: @WarrenGHeld I’m sorry, Dr. Held. I don’t know what you’re talking about. Are your tools missing?

Dr. Warren Held: @LeahAMartine You know damn well what I’m talking about.

Dr. Leah A. Martine: @WarrenGHeld Again, my apologies. Weren’t you the last one in the lab? How could I possibly have moved them?

Dr. Warren Held: @LeahAMartine They don’t move on their own, Martine! I left them on the operating tray. You must have moved them. Where are they?

Dr. Warren Held: @LeahAMartine I’ve asked you before not to touch my hagedorn needles. There will not be a third reminder, doctor.

1 Hour Later

Dr. Leah A. Martine: @JakeJRamsey Dr. Held is looking for the hagedorn needles from our procedure earlier today. Any chance you’ve seen where they went?

Dr. Jake Ramsey: @LeahAMartine How do you do it, Dr. Martine?

Dr. Leah A. Martine: @JakeJRamsey Do… what?

Dr. Jake Ramsey: @LeahAMartine Distance yourself from the fact that the materials you’re poking and prodding once belonged to sentient beings.

Dr. Jake Ramsey: @LeahAMartine Beings who never had a choice whether they would become subjects to your experiments.

Dr. Leah A. Martine: @JakeJRamsey My experiments? You do just as much work here as I do.

Dr. Jake Ramsey: @LeahAMartine Because I have to, not because I want to.

Dr. Leah A. Martine: @JakeJRamsey Your outrage is misplaced. The materials we’re working with came from protoss who were already dying or dead.

Dr. Leah A. Martine: @JakeJRamsey I’m doing this so that your “friends” didn’t die in vain. But judge away. Moral superiority must feel good.

Dr. Jake Ramsey: @LeahAMartine I’m sorry. I’ve been on edge a bit lately.

Dr. Leah A. Martine: @JakeJRamsey Living here isn’t any easier for me because I’m a willing part of the Dominion.

Dr. Jake Ramsey: @LeahAMartine Point taken.

Dr. Leah A. Martine: @JakeJRamsey Ok, this is odd. The nerve cord samples we collected this morning are gone. Did Dr. Held take them when he stormed out?

Dr. Jake Ramsey: @LeahAMartine I’m not sure, but that wouldn’t be a surprise. Held isn’t much for consulting me on what he does.

Dr. Leah A. Martine: @JakeJRamsey He’s destroyed them. DESTROYED them.

Dr. Jake Ramsey: @LeahAMartine Slow down. Destroyed what?

Dr. Leah A. Martine: @JakeJRamsey The samples. Dr. Held incinerated them. Too dangerous, he said, and plenty of other tissue to study. I can’t believe it.

Dr. Jake Ramsey: @LeahAMartine You’re surprised? Everything—everyone—is disposable to Held.

Dr. Leah A. Martine: @JakeJRamsey Do you know how rare it is for us to find a dead protoss?

Dr. Leah A. Martine: @JakeJRamsey Usable nerve cord tissue is especially precious. So many things we still don’t understand about telepathy.

Dr. Jake Ramsey: @LeahAMartine I know. But you can’t let Held get under your skin like this.

Dr. Leah A. Martine: @JakeJRamsey We sacrifice everything to become ghosts. Our memories, our freedom. Too often, our sanity.

Dr. Jake Ramsey: @LeahAMartine Winlaleah, stop.

Dr. Leah A. Martine: @JakeJRamsey You hard-shells, what do you care? But you owe us.

Dr. Jake Ramsey: @LeahAMartine Stop.

Dr. Leah A. Martine: @JakeJRamsey Damn it. Can’t do this. Sorry.

Dr. Jake Ramsey: @LeahAMartine Screaming.

Dr. Leah A. Martine: @JakeJRamsey Are you alright? Please respond.

Dr. Leah A. Martine: @JakeJRamsey Dr. Ramsey?

Dr. Jake Ramsey: @LeahAMartine I blacked out. I could hear your screams. I could feel them.

Dr. Leah A. Martine: @JakeJRamsey Impossible. I wasn’t directing that at you, and you’re no telepath.

Dr. Leah A. Martine: @JakeJRamsey How did you know my full name? I haven’t told anyone here.

Dr. Jake Ramsey: @LeahAMartine I just knew. It was already there, in my head.

starcraft-the-dark-templar-firstborn-front-coverAs read, Jacob Ramsey’s brain seems to be slowly developing into telepathy after his brief experience with the protoss preserver Zamara. Her mind merged with his, granting him access to the memories of every protoss who ever lived, and access to the Khala.

I recommend to those who havent yet read the StarCraft: Dark Templar trilogy by Christie Golden to do so.

Dr. Jake Ramsey debuted in that trilogy. This is why StarCraft lore fans are excited to see him again in Project Blackstone, and why we think there is more to this story than just a real-time transmedia novela. We can’t yet figure out what it is. It was not a Heart of the Swarm promotional, it was not a PAX East promotional, and it likely isn’t a 15th Anniversary promotional.

Cameron Dayton said on Twitter this story took two years in the making.

I am seriously considering Project Blackstone is leading to an announcement at BlizzCon 2013 (November 8-9).

Two years of development is too long a time for a free recreational story that is not tied to a upcoming video game.

If you haven’t played Heart of the Swarm yet, there is no mention of Project Blackstone, and none of the characters make a cameo.

If StarCraft: Ghost returned sooner than later, we have to agree it won’t have the same Terrazine plot as the Nihilistic iteration, but a more up-to-date plot based on the StarCraft II trilogy episodes.

UPDATE

New: March 26

Dr. Pamela Foster: @RedellQuinton Nice to be back in the lab. Finally.

Red Quinton: @PamelaGFoster I’ll join you in a few, sweetheart. I hear that ship brought us something new to chew on.

Dr. Pamela Foster: @RedellQuinton Big new toy. You’re going to love this one, Backwood. Orders are to see if we can’t streamline production.

Red Quinton: @PamelaGFoster Production of what? What was delivered? It just says CLASSIFIED CARGO on my datapad here.

Dr. Pamela Foster: @RedellQuinton Tall ugly thing – looks like a relation of yours. Label on the side says “Warhound”.

Red Quinton: @PamelaGFoster Work order says this needs to be shipped out tomorrow. Sounds like an all-nighter. I’ll bring a couple bottles…

Red Quinton: @PamelaGFoster uivxyh

Red Quinton: @PamelaGFoster uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiuuuuuuuuuuiiiiiiiiiii

Dr. Pamela Foster: @RedellQuinton Pardon?

Dr. Pamela Foster: @RedellQuinton Huh?

Red Quinton: @PamelaGFoster CLOAKING!

Dr. Pamela Foster: @RedellQuinton Yes, I can read. What about cloaking?

Red Quinton: @PamelaGFoster LET’S PUT A CLOAKING REACTOR IN THE WARHOUNDNXRT.

Dr. Pamela Foster: @RedellQuinton Put down the bottle, Red.

Red Quinton: @PamelaGFoster NO NO NO I’m serious. Warhound has power to spare. Bunch of electronics n security wired into it. WHY FINGERPRINT SCANNER?

Red Quinton: @PamelaGFoster Ditch all that and we got POWER to spare. I WANT CLOAKING.

Dr. Pamela Foster: @RedellQuinton Hm…cloaking aside, you may actually be on to something. Do we need all that thumbprint security vs a bunch of nonhumans?

Red Quinton: @PamelaGFoster This’ll free up space/pwr for all kindsa junk. I think. Sending you diagrams now.

Red Quinton: @PamelaGFoster We can fit more guns. More armor. Cup holders. MOTHERFEKKIN CLOAKIN DEVICE!

Dr. Pamela Foster: @RedellQuinton You want to cloak a giant metal walker? You’re drunk, Red. The efficiency gains are worth a look, though. Let me revise.
