World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade - Lady Sylvanas: Lament of the Highborne

Blizzard Entertainment surprised us with a great treat in World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade.  When you go to the Windrunner Spire located in the western side of Ghostlands and kill a Deatholme Acolyte you will get a random drop titled “The Lady’s Necklace”.  It reads: “There’s an inscription, which reads: To Sylvanas. Love always, Alleria.”

Lore Note: Alleria the Ranger was the elven hero of Warcraft 2: Beyond the Dark Portal—for the lore buffs.  Alleria, Sylvanas and Vereesa are sisters.

You take the object to High Executor Mavren at Tranquillien village. He will send you to Sylvanas in Undercity.  The quest objective is to take The Lady’s Necklace to Lady Sylvanas Windrunner at the Royal Quarter in Undercity. After the recent closed beta patch. We discover that behind the arrogant, remorseless and bitterness displayed by Lady Sylvanas—the memories of the necklace brings Sylvanas to a sadness, despite throwing the necklace to the ground, and she begins singing an awesome song titled: “Lament of the Highborne” – that reminds fans of the elven princess from Lord of the Rings film. Throughout the event you may read onscreen the following:

Lady Sylvanas Windrunner looks down at the discarded necklace.  In her sadness, the lady incants a glamour, which beckons forth Highborne spirits.  The chamber resonates with their ancient song about the Sin’dorei …

Lady Sylvanas Windrunner says: Belore …

Sighing. Lady Sylvanas Windrunner kneels down and picks up the amulet.

After singing, she kneels down to pick up the necklace from the ground. Showing us there may be some hope that Lady Sylvanas will change at some point, and maybe kick some Varimathras’ booty.  Dreadlords can’t change their nature to corrupt civilizations. A undead with an elven heart does.

QUESTS

When speaking to blood elf Ambassador Sunsorrow after the Lament of the Highborne event, he now offers a new script. You ask: What’s it you have for me Ambassador Sunsorrow?—to what he replies the following.
Just a small songbook that I thought you might like to have.  It contains the lyrics to a song known as the Lament of the Highborne: the one that Lady Sylvanas glamoured from the air.

LYRICS : LAMENT OF THE HIGHBORNE

World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade - Zuluhed the Whacked

Zuluhed the Whacked is the Chieftain of the Dragonmaw Clan. To those recently acquainted with the Warcraft Universe, Zuluhed is mentioned in Warcraft: Day of the Dragon pocketbook—written by Richard A. Knaak.  Deathwing manipulated the Horde into finding the Demon Soul during hte second war. Zuluhed was not able to wield the magics of the Demon Soul with his shamanistic powers.  Instead, he called his minion Nekros Skullcrusher – a retired warrior who became a warlock after the loss of his leg.  The warlock magics were able to tap the powers of the Demon Soul.

However, Nekros did never know how much power he held. Nevertheless, with what little mastery he learned over the artifact he was able to kidnap Queen Alexstrasza, Dragon Aspect of Life and matron of the Red dragonflight and his elder consort Tyranastrasz – capturing their red eggs and most of their dragonflight. The Dragonmaw Clan was able to raze many cities and towns with hit and run tactics flying atop red dragons.  (You can read the Warcraft 2: Tides of Darkness missions)—I recommend reading the book.  Rhonin and Krasus (Alexstrasza’s consort) are the main characters.

Eventually, the Horde was defeated in Northeron (Quel’Thalas) and to the south of Grim Batol – Blackrock Spire was raided by the Alliance. Lord Lothar had gone to Blackrock Spire in a diplomatic attempt. However, Lord Lothar was slain in a duel against Orgrim Doomhammer. The death of Lothar infuriated his disciple Turalyon and the Alliance. This was the driving force that made the Alliance victorious at Blackrock Spire. It was believed that when Warchief Orgrim Doomhammer was defeated at Blackrock Spire and held prisoner along with most of the Horde, taken to internment camps, Chieftain Zuluhed may have escaped along with other Horde Clans through the Dark Portal – back to Draenor – disconnecting communications between Zuluhed and the remaining Dragonmaw Clan orcs of Grim Batol that were led by Nekros Skullcrusher.  Their last bastions in Azeroth: Dun Algaz, Dun Modr and Grim Batol.  Eventually, through a ruse by Krasus, Nekros and the Dragonmaw Clan abandoned Grim Batol to secure the red eggs and Alexstrasza, heading toward Dun Modr. The Dwarves with help of Rhonin, Vereesa, Falstad the Wildhammer dwarf, Krasus and an enraged Alexstrasza defeated what remained of the Dragonmaw Clan in Azeroth.

Zuluhed and his Dragonmaw Clan escaped to Draenor years ago during the Second War.  Although not official, it is what makes sense – for Zuluhed the Whacked may be found at the Dragonmaw Fortress located in Shadowmoon Valley. Pitifully, as a spawned NPC activated when accepting a quest. Read the World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade quest transcripts below.

Mordenai: They can’t keep this up! Their wings will eventually give …

KINDNESS

Mordenai: Something has them spooked.

(Mordenai points to the nether drakes flying overhead)

They won’t even come down to feed. I have seen several fall to the earth, dead from exhaustion before their bodies hit the ground.

We must save them! The Rocknail flayers that are found near the crystals are their natural prey. Kill flayers and take their carcasses. Place a carcass in the field and stand extremely still. As long as you do not make any aggressive motions, they will not attack you.

QUEST OBJECTIVES

Mordenai at Netherwing Fields in Shadowmoon Valley wants you to feed 8 Mature Netherwing Drakes.

Rewards: 7g 59s

TIPS: The Rocknail Flayers are found in Netherwing Fields near the big crystals. When you kill them they have a high drop rate of Rocknail Flayer Giblets. It says, Use: Combine 5 Rocknail flayer giblets to form a Rocknail flayer carcass. However, if you kill the big ones that patrol around the crystals they drop the carcass you need to feed the Nether Drakes. So it is better and quicker than collecting giblets. In short instead of killing 25 mobs, you just need to kill the 5 big Rocknail Flayers. When you get the carcass it says, Use: Places a Rocknail flayer carcass on the ground in Netherwing Fields. Click the item in your inventory bag and it will spawn a redish meaty-ribs. Stay still and they won’t attack you. The Nether Drakes will thank you in draconic language: “Belan shi karkun”.

Mordenai: You are kind and compassionate friend.

SEEK OUT NELTHARAKU

Mordenai: Their patron soars high above. Perhaps the kindness that you showed his children has moved his heart. Seek Neltharaku out and enlist his aid. Together, you may be able to solve the plight of the Netherwing drakes.

(Mordenai points to the sky)

Fly high, friend …

QUEST OBJECTIVES

Seek out Neltharaku, patron of the Netherwing Dragonflight.

Rewards: 1g 89s

Neltharaku: Greetings, mortal. My children have told me of your heroic deeds. There is more that you can do.

NELTHARAKU’S TALE

I have information that you may find useful. Please listen to what I have to tell you.

QUEST OBJECTIVES

Speak with Neltharaku and listen to his story.

Rewards: 1g 89s

> I am listening, dragon.

Neltharaku: In the eastern reaches of the Netherwing Fields lies Dragonmaw Fortress. It is there that the cruel Dragonmaw orc clan tortures the drakes that they capture in an attempt to bend them to their will. Many have given up hope, choosing instead to do the bidding of Dragonmaw. The others … They refuse to land for fear of Dragonmaw war parties capturing them and taking them back to the fortress.

> But you are dragons! How could orcs do this to you?

Neltharaku: I … We are powerless. Illidan found and delivered unto the Dragonmaw their leader – Zuluhed. This orc was the one responsible for the capture and incarceration of Alexstrasza. How could we fight against such power? He captured an Aspect.

And just as easily, he took my mate.

> Your mate?

(Neltharaku nods)

Karynaku … She is held prisoner atop Dragonmaw Fortress. I have made many attempts to free her. All have failed … You have battled these beasts before, have you not?

> I have battled many beasts, dragon. I will help you.

Neltharaku: So you will help us?

INFILTRATING DRAGONMAW FORTRESS

I require time so that I may device a plan to save my children and mate. You will buy me this time, mortal.

Venture into Dragonmaw Fortress, located on the eastern edge of the Netherwing Fields, and lay waste to all Dragonmaw orcs that you find. The ensuing chaos and confusion should have a considerable impact on their plans.

Be warned, some of my kin are too far gone – their minds corrupted by the Dragonmaw. For them, the only resolution is death. You have my permission to end their lives as well.

QUEST OBJECTIVES

Neltharaku, flying high above Netherwing Fields in Shadowmoon Valley wants you to slay 15 Dragonmaw orcs.

Any Dragonmaw Orc in Dragonmaw Fortress will suffice.

Rewards: 7g 59s

Neltharaku: Well done. I have discovered a way in which we can free the enslaved drakes that are being held at Dragonmaw Fortress.

TO NETHERWING LEDGE!

Neltharaku: I believe that I can imbue nethervine crystals with my own essence. The power contained within these imbued crystals should be sufficient to free enslaved drakes of their masters’ grasps.

Travel to Netherwing Ledge, an island located off the broken shelf of Shadowmoon Valley, to the southeast. It is on Netherwing Ledge that you will find nethervine crystals. Return to me when you have collected enough crystals to fill your packs.

And, Beware the Dragonmaw that now inhabit the island.

QUEST OBJECTIVES

Neltharaku, flying high above Netherwing Fields in Shadowmoon Valley wants you to collect 12 Nethervine Crystals from Netherwing Ledge.

Rewards: 7g 59s

Neltharaku: I require nethervine crystals.

(Neltharaku takes the crystals from you.)

I will prepare the crystals for you now.

THE FORCE OF NELTHARAKU

Neltharaku: Take this enchanted nethervine crystal and make your way back to Dragonmaw Fortress. Once there, seek out the enslaved drakes and invoke the magic of the nethervine crystal. My own energies will pour forth, causing the drakes to break free from the bond of their captors. When you see that the drake has broken free, help it defeat its captor! It will most assuredly be weak from the imprisonment.

Release all that you can find and return to me.

QUEST OBJECTIVES

Neltharaku, flying high above Netherwing Fields in Shadowmoon Valley, wants you to free 5 Enslaved Netherwing Drakes.

TIPS: You can stand 30 yards away far from aggro. When you click the item in your bag, it will launch a magical bolt at the Nether Drake and it will become friendly. It will attack the Orc. Recommended to DPS him if you are a caster so that it focus on you running toward you. This way if a patrol is nearby, it won’t aggro. The Nether Drake will fly off and you get credit onscreen. If you are on a flying mount, you can pick those Nether Drakes along the mountain. There aren’t many orcs there, making it easier to handle without adds. By the way, one of these orcs dropped Epidote Stone Necklace of Regeneration with +12 Health Regeneration. Requires lvl 68.

(Enslaved Netherwing Drake lets loose a low, guttural growl.)

(Dragonmaw Subjugator attempts to run away in fear!)

Neltharaku: Waste no time, we have much work to do!

(Neltharaku laughs.)

The orcs must have been shocked to see the drakes turn on them in such a manner. Well done. Perhaps you truly are the hero of our flight.

KARYNAKU

Neltharaku: It shames me to ask for your assistance once more, but you are my flight’s only hope. Without my mate, the netherwing brood may die out completely.

Make your way to the top of Dragonmaw Fortress and find Karynaku.

We will be flying overhead. Should a break appear in their defenses, the might of the netherwing will swoop down to assist you.

QUEST OBJECTIVES

Seek out Karynaku at Dragonmaw Fortress. Suggested Players (5).

Rewards: 1g 89s

Karynaku: You must … free … my children …

It is the chains. They sap my power. The only way is to get the key from Zuluhed and unbind me.

ZULUHED THE WHACKED

Karynaku: He hides in my thoughts, mortal. He waits for me to break … for me to bend to his will.

And this will be his undoing. I will call for him. I will tell him that I will do as he asks. When he appears, kill him and take the key!

Know this: Zuluhed is an ancient orc with unknown powers. He has surely been empowered further by Illidan. You risk your life for me in doing as I ask. Are you certain you wish to make such a sacrifice?

QUEST OBJECTIVES

Kill Zuluhed the Whacked and recover Zuluhed’s Key. Use Zuluhed’s Key on Zuluhed’s Chains to free Karynaku.

Suggested Players (5)

Rewards: 7g 59s

Zuluhed the Whacked yells: Indeed, the time has come to end this charade. Destroy them! Destroy them all!

TIPS: Your team must first clear the building nearby killing the two shamans there. Everyone must stay there. Only one player should go talk to Karynaku. When you accept the quest from Karynaku, Zuluhed spawns by the exit doorway and a few archers spawn atop the walls. Run toward the room. Zuluhed will aggro four seconds after he spawns. Make sure to bring a Priest or Paladin as main healer and a secondary healer (Druid or Shaman). At some point, Zuluhed will yell: Lord Illidan, bless me with the power of the flight!—- this is a queue. Arcubus the Pitlord is summoned and joins the fight. It may be a 4-5 minutes fight. The pitlord doesn’t make as much damage as Zuluhed, but has mad health/armor. Watch for Zuluhed’s rain of fire. He does it on healers or rangers quietly often.

NOTE – This quest grants you access to a Nether Drake mount.

UPDATE: Blizzard confirmed a PvE Netherdrake mount:

Drysc: “The armored Netherdrake will be available through the arenas as a reward, and a Netherdrake that has a distinctly different appearance from the armored Netherdrake will be available through a quest line which has not yet been implemented. It’s likely that it will be implemented with the next major content patch.

They’re both epic flying mounts, just to clear up any confusion on their speed.”

As far as I’m aware the current plan is to make them both the same speed, which I believe is planned for 310%, a bit faster than the purchasable epic flying mounts. That’s of course subject to change.

I’ve been able to gather a little more information which should help set some of the information straight.

The swift (armored) nether drake which is a seasonal arena reward will be a 310% speed flying mount.

The (unarmored) nether drake will be obtained through a quest (which is planned to be implemented in a future patch) and will be a 280% speed flying mount. This nether drake is intended to supply players with a cool new epic mount and won’t require any tasks within raid encounters. It’s a reward that all players can work towards, but it will still be difficult to obtain.

There is another mount that is 310% speed that is yet undiscovered which is intended to be an equally rare and difficult to obtain equivalent to the arena reward. That’s the only information we’re able to give at this time.

NOTE: I recommend reading Warcraft: Day of the Dragon pocketbook.  Blizzard Entertainment will release Grim Batol as a high-end dungeon in an uncertain future. Grim Batol has been the red dragonflight’s new nest after the Second War, where Queen Alexstrasza resides.  The son of Nekros, Nekrosh is already in early Alliance quests on southern Wetlands.

World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade - Rexxar in Outland

Blizzard Entertainment has added Rexxar and his loyal bear Misha as a quest NPC at the Thunderlord Village in Blade’s Edge Mountain.  Rexxar has come to Outland to search for his tribe of ogre-orcish half-breed: the Mok’Nathal.

For those recently acquainted with the Warcraft universe, Rexxar was a neutral hero added to Warcraft III: Frozen Throne (2003) and who became main focus in the independent Orc campaign, which introduced a quest system for Warcraft III: Frozen Throne WorldEditor.

Rexxar and his bear found a dying grunt who requested Rexxar to honor him by delivering his message to Thrall.  Thrall welcomed Rexxar as a guest.  The Mok’Nathal hero helped the Horde finish the construction of Orgrimmar, as well as complete many missions for members of the Horde such as Grunts, a Far Seer and Darkspear Trolls among others.  Rexxar defeated the leader of the Stonemaul ogres, earning his right as new leader of the Stonemaul.

For his unconditional support, Thrall proclaimed Rexxar as Champion of the Horde.  Thrall gave Rexxar the honor of carrying the Horde Flag leading the battle against Admiral Proudmoore at Northwatch Hold in the Barrens. After Warcraft III: Frozen Throne, Rexxar was next seen in World of Warcraft patrolling the road from Stonetalon Mountains to Feralas.  He is involved in the Onyxia’s Lair quest chain.  Now in World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade, the story is progressing with Rexxar returning back home to his tribe. Below is a transcript of the quests. Enjoy!

Garm Wolfbrother: Whatever advice I can give to aid in your fight against the ogres, you shall have it!

THE SPIRITS HAVE VOICES

Now that you can see me, there is something you must tell Rexxar. I know that he seeks his people, and I know where they are.

The Mok’Nathal, as they are known, have a village to the east beyond the Razor Ridge.

Go, give Rexxar this news. His people are in danger, and I know that he will want to come to their aid.

QUEST OBJECTIVES:

Garm Wolfbrother has told you where the Mok’Nathal, Rexxar’s people, live. Speak of this to Rexxar at Thunderlord Stronghold in the Blade’s Edge Mountains. Rewards: 69S

Rexxar: The search for my people. Our struggle against the Alliance. The war with the ogres and their gronn masters.

All of these things weigh heavy upon my shoulders.

Even I can use some help from time to time.

What is this you speak of?

Garm Wolfbrother? He was the last chieftain of the Thunderlord clan. If you have communed with his spirit, then it must be true.

WHISPERS ON THE WIND

Rexxar: I have chased rumors of the Mok’Nathal across Outland with nothing to show for it. Finally, we may have found their home.

But now that the moment is here, I am filled with unease. Unease that has kept me awake deep into the nights during my search. Will they accept me?

I … know their leader’s name: Leoroxx. Seek him out. You must be my eyes in this.

QUEST OBJECTIVES:

Search out Leoroxx at the Mok’Nathal Village in the Blade’s Edge Mountains. Rewards: 69S

Leoroxx: Our enemies surround us. I would have a better life for the Mok’Nathal, but the forces we are at battle with have chosen otherwise for us.

If you would prove yourself worthy to the Mok’Nathal, aid us in their elimination.

What brings you to our village?

REUNION

Leoroxx: So you come from thte world beyond the Portal? And you know of Rexxar. Oh yes, I am quite familiar with him.

You see, he is my son.

But he made his choice a lifetime ago. He is not one of us, and he is not welcome here. We have enough troubles, with the Bloodmaul ogres.

Know this: being born a half-breed does not make you Mok’Nathal.

QUEST OBJECTIVES:

Return to Rexxar at Thunderlord Stronghold in Blade’s Edge Mountains. Rewards: 1g 74S

Rexxar: So my father does live. I did not expect him to forgive me – that was never his way. But I had hoped that the years had dulled the anger he must have felt at my departure.

Thirty years ago, I left the Mok’Nathal to follow the Horde to Azeroth. Leoroxx was staunchly agaisnt it, but then, he never gave me any reason to stay. Still, a better welcome for this I had hoped for.

He wanted a Mok’Nathal for a son and he has one now, even if he will not know it.

I must open his eyes.

ON SPIRIT’S WINGS

If the Mok’Nathal are tormented by the Bloodmaul ogres, then I will stop them and their followers. Ogres are simple creatures, and there is little profit they could gain from harassing the Mok’Nathal.

There must be something more to this. Take Spirit, my hawk, and spy upon the conversations of the Bloodmaw’s leaders. He may go undetected where we cannot.

QUEST OBJECTIVES:

Find a Bloodmaul Taskmaster and a Bloodmaul Soothsayer engaged in conversation, then use Rexxar’s Whistle to summon Spirit to spy on them. When this is complete, return to Rexxar at Thunderlord Village in the Blade’s Edge Mountains. Rewards: 10g 69S

Rexxar: What have you learned?

(Spirit perches upon Rexxar’s shoulder, while Rexxar listens intently.)

So it is the sons of Gruul that are behind the ogres’ actions. They command the Bloodmaul ogres to destroy the Mok’Nathal to gain their favor.

NOTE: The quest broke here abruptly.  Blade’s Edge Mountains is still incomplete.  Blizzard said the quests are still in testing.  Hopefully, this chain will expand.  With the mention of the Gronn, this quest line might end sending you into Gruul’s Lair soon or later.

World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade - Heroes - Uther Lightbringer

There are various heroes available in World of Warcraft and its expansion The Burning Crusade. Below you can find out where to find them: screenshots and map provided.

UTHER THE LIGHTBRINGER

The Memorial of Uther the Lightbringer may be found at the Sorrow Hill, south of Andorhal in Western Plaguelands. Alliance players visit this place once a year during Hallow’s End to pay tribute to the fallen heroes. However, World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade introduced a new quest given by a Blood Elf at the Bulwark in Tirisfal Glades. In this quest, you are sent to defile the memorial monument of Uther, and this trigger a short event where the ghost of Uther Lightbringer floats in front of the statue. He doesn’t offer a quest, but in general channel you may read a text sending you back to the Blood Elf, delivering a message where he forgives his old student for wishing to defile his monument.

THE SO-CALLED MARK OF THE LIGHTBRINGER

Mehlar Dawnblade: I WILL have my revenge! I was once a pupil of Uther Lightbringer, founder of the Knights of the Silver Hand. I saw how he mishandled Prince Arthas’s training. It led to the destruction of my homeland, Quel’Thalas, and I blame Uther and his incompetence for all of it! And now he has a tomb in his honor – how lovely.

My sources tell me that the scarlet fools are keeping one of his “holy” relics atop their guard tower near the gates of Hearthglen.

Go to the Western Plaguelands and retrieve it for me.

QUEST OBJECTIVES

Obtain the Mark of the Lightbringer and return it to Mehlar Dawnblade at the Bulwark in the Western Plaguelands.

Rewards: 37S 50C

Mehlar Dawnblade: When you’ve managed to retrieve his ‘mark’, we’re going to change it a bit; make it better.

The first step is complete. Hand me the Mark of the Lightbringer and I will transform it into something more suitable.

Then my revenge will begin in earnest!

DEFILING UTHER’S TOMB

There, that’s better. I’ve added a little fel magic to it.

Now, you must take it to his resting place in the Western Plaguelands. Use the corrupted holy symbol in the presence of Uther’s statue to defile his tomb! You’ll have to get close for it to work.

QUEST OBJECTIVES

Defile Uther’s Tomb and return to Mehlar Dawnblade at the Bulwark in the Western Plaguelands within 30 minutes.

Rewards: 46S 50C

Ghost of Uther Lightbringer: Why do you do this? Did I somehow wrong you in life? Ah, I see it now in your mind. This is the work of one of my former students … Mehlar Dawnblade. It is sad to know that his heart has turned so dark. Return to him. Return to Mehlar and tell him that I forgive him and that I understand why he believes what he does.

Mehlar Dawnblade: It is done, then? Uther’s Tomb is defiled?

Forgives me? He FORGIVES ME?!!!

I don’t care what that old ghost had to say – it was his fault! Everything that’s happened to Quel’Thalas was a result of his incompetence!

It is clear that the defiling did not work. Go, be gone from my sight! I must think this through.

Thanks, Deathkore for heads up.

World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade - Teron Gorefiend

World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade introduces one of the most thrilling and loved villain characters of Warcraft II: Beyond the Dark Portal, long forgotten by Blizzard Entertainment.  Teron Gorefiend was the first Death Knight raised by Gul’dan from the dead warlocks of his Shadow Council—assassinated by Orgrim Doomhammer.  Teron later served Ner’zhul in retrieving various artifacts from Azeroth so that Ner’zhul could open rifts to other worlds.

Had it not been for Teron Gorefiend, there wouldn’t be a plot for World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade.  Those rifts or portals were what caused Draenor to be torn apart resulting in the floating debris of what is now known as Outland. You can read the mission briefings of Warcraft II: Beyond the Dark Portal in our section.

Blizzard introduces Teron Gorefiend once more in an epic event where players are fooled by his disguise into bringing his cloak, truncheon and armor.  With these he escapes his spiritual prison by possessing the player.  Players will be able to fight a Draenei spirit using Teron Gorefiend’s model … and best yet, his abilities: Death and Decay, Haste and Death Coil.

In the early days of World of Warcraft – back in 2004, Duskwood quests mentioning the Dark Riders of Karazhan, the story of the Scythe of Elune, Arugal and the Worgen created a collective myth that fans have questioned over and over, and fantasized with, thinking that Teron Gorefiend was boss of the Dark Riders (Death Knights) in Karazhan.  That Teron may have escaped through one of the rifts of Ner’zhul and successfully taken over the homeworld of the Worgen or another world.

This is far from the truth as the storyline of the Burning Crusade expansion has proven everyone wrong.  The final boss in Karazhan is not Teron.  For Teron has been dead for years, bound and imprisoned within the constraints of the Altar of Shadows.  Teron’s spirit, disguised, manipulates you into gathering some armor in Shadowmoon Valley with the excuse to divinate the fate and location of Teron Gorefiend.  Once you have gathered three pieces of armor, he reveals to you his true identity and possesses you as his new vessel. The spirit of a Draenei attempts to destroy Teron to stop the unevitable.  Teron Gorefiend is back to life … and it is your fault. The experience of playing as Teron Gorefiend, though briefly, it is astounding.  Once the event is over, he mounts his steed and yells: “Death incarnate has been released upon the world once more!  Teron Gorefiend has returned … !

Nevertheless, the dark riders of Karazhan do resemble the ghostriders of Karabor.  And the horse of Attumen the Huntsman—Midnight—is the exact model of the Ghostriders Teron Gorefiend asks us to retrieve his truncheon from these Ghostriders of Karabor who ride around the roads of Shadowmoon Valley.

Now the important stuff … how to get this quest.  On the horde side, go to Shadowmoon Village – a Horde base. Talk to Chief Apothecary Hildagard. At first she gives you a very simple quest to gather ashes located all around the edge of Deathforge, to the southeast.  Once you return 15 ashes, the next quest is Spectrecles.

SPECTRECLES

Chief Apothecary Hildagard: I call them “Spectrecles.” Clever, no?  When you equip these goggles, you will be able to see the spirits of Shadowmoon Valley.

Before I let you have them, though, you must promise me that you will help us clear out the ghosts at the village.

Take the goggles and destroy any and all spirits that you see wandering about Shadowmoon Village.  Hopefully, destroying these spirits will force any that remain to move elsewhere.

QUEST OBJECTIVES

Chief Apothecary Hildagard at Shadowmoon Village in Shadowmoon Valley wants you to slay 12 Shadowmoon Zealots.

Note: When spirits are destroyed, they emote many messages that surprised to say the least:

Shadowmoon Zealot emotes:

1. Pray that the chilling embrace of Teron Gorefiend does not reach out for you …
2. We will never dissipate mortal … Our fate is tied to Gorefiend…
3. It is you who have invaded our home.  Gorefiend will avenge us!

Apothecary Hildagard: If you lose your goggles, let me know and I will craft another pair.  Gorefiend?  T … Teron Gorefiend?  But … How?

How could Gorefiend be here?  This is impossible!

The legend of Teron Gorefiend is one that causes even the Forsaken to tremble in fear.  By all accounts, Gorefiend was a warlock of Gul’dan – extremely powerful in his own right.  When Gorefiend was slain by Orgrim Doomhammer, Gul’dan took the soul of the fallen warlock and placed it inside the broken shell of a slain knight of Stormwind.  And so was born the first death knight of the Horde.

TERON GOREFIEND – LORE AND LEGEND

Stories abound about the life of Teron Gorefiend, but most are just that – stories.  We do not know what happened to Gorefiend after he returned to Draenor.

The only thing we are certain of is that he has already died once.

I have heard the scouts here speaking of an ancient orc spirit that resides at the Altar of Shadows, far to the southeast, across the Netherwing Fields and through Netherwing Pass.  Take the Spectrecles and track this orc down.  He will surely have more information on Gorefiend.

QUEST OBJECTIVES

Chief Apothecary Hildagard at Shadowmoon Village in Shadowmoon Valley wants you to find the Ancient Shadowmoon Spirit.

If you lose your Spectrecles, Chief Apothecary Hildagard can make you a new pair.

TERON GOREFIEND – LORE AND LEGEND (Part 2)

Ancient Shadowmoon Spirit: Gorefiend?  Why, I have not heard that name in ages!

After the Second War, Gorefiend returned here, along with his death knights.  Unable to cope with the terrible nature of his new form and without the support of his beloved leader, Gul’dan, Gorefiend killed himself.

If he walks these lands now as a spirit it is news to me.  Yet, perhaps I can divine such knowledge with your assistance.

DIVINATION: GOREFIEND’S CLOAK

Many a cruel act he commited but none so cold as the slaughter of the clerics of Karabor.

After Gul’dan’s Horde defeated the draenei of Karabor, the surviving clerics of Karabor were marched out, told that they were to be taken to Hellfire Citadel as prisoners of war.

Gorefiend, not yet a death knight, murdered each and every last one of them in cold blood.  They now roam in front of the Black Temple with vengeance in their hearts.

It is the clerics of Karabor that hold the cloak of Gorefiend.

QUEST OBJECTIVES

The Ancient Shadowmoon Spirit at the Altar of Shadows in southeast Shadowmoon Valley wants you to recover Gorefiend’s Cloak.

DIVINATION: GOREFIEND’S ARMOR

In life, Gorefiend was a bastard, but in death, Gorefiend was an unmitigated terror.

To the southeast you will find Netherwing Ledge.  What was once part of the mainland of Shadowmoon is now a floating island in the sky.

Vhel’kur, spawn of Deathwing, once called it his home, but now knows it as his grave.  He flies an endless circle above the island, seething at his defeat to Gorefiend.

QUEST OBJECTIVES

The Ancient Shadowmoon Spirit at the Altar of Shadows in southeast Shadowmoon Valley wants you to recover Gorefiend’s Armor.

DIVINATION: GOREFIEND’S TRUNCHEON

One by one they knelt before him, offering their lives as a show of allegiance.  Gorefiend hoisted his sickle and cut clean their heads.  Shortly after this slaughter, Gorefiend took his own life.

But this was not act of contrition! No, Gorefiend sought immortality!  From the corpses of the fallen death knights rose the Ghostriders of Karabor.

They now ride the roads encircling the Hand of Guldan, awaiting the day that their master returns.  It is they who hold the truncheon of Gorefiend.  Retrieve it …

QUEST OBJECTIVES

The Ancient Shadowmoon Spirit at the Altar of Shadows in southeast Shadowmoon Valley wants you to recover Gorefiend’s Truncheon.

Only with all three united may I divine the secrets you so desperately seek!

I must have all of the pieces before I am able to divine the fate of Gorefiend.

TERON GOREFIEND, I AM …

With Gorefiend’s items restored, there is but one last piece to this puzzle: A host.

(The ancient shadowmoon spirit’s lips curl up to form a wicked grin.)

Surely you did not believe the fairly tale that I told you.  The Altar of Shadows is my prison.  Without your help, I would have been stuck here for all eternity.  Now, I will take over your body and you will destroy my captors and break these bonds.  Refuse and we will both be stuck here forever.

Teron Gorefiend will be free!

QUEST OBJECTIVES

The Ancient Shadowmoon Spirit has used you as a pawn!  Now that you have collected the items he required, he has revealed himself to be Teron Gorefiend.  To break free of his possession, you must do his bidding and slay Krasius the Ancient Watcher.

If you succeed, return to Chief Apothecary Hildagard at Shadowmoon Village.

EMOTE:

Teron Gorefiend: Your body is mine!  Our fates are forever intertwined.

Karsius the Ancient Watcher: Your pathetic attempt to escape will be short lived, Gorefiend.  Let the girl go and submit!  Even with your armor and weapons, you cannot defeat teh ancients!

Teron Gorefiend: Waste no time, fool!  Use our power to kill those that stand in our way!  Destroy Karsius before you are subdued!

NOTE: Teron possesses you, and now your character is replaced by Teron Gorefiend’s model.  You are Teron.  Your abilities to fight Karsius are:

  • Unholy Armor: 600 mana – instant cast – 1 sec cooldown – Absorbs 1080 to 1320 physical damage.  Lasts 15 sec.

  • Touch of Darkness: 2500 mana – 20 yd range – Instant cast – Steals 4375 to 5625 life from target enemy.
  • Death and Decay: 1000 mana – 30 yd range – 2 sec cast – 30 sec cooldown – 700 to 900 shadow damage inflicted every 2 sec to all targets in the affected area.
  • Haste: 3500 mana – Instant cast – Increases your haste rating by 300 for until cancelled.

NOTE: After defeating Karsius the Ancient Watcher, Teron Gorefiend mounts on his Death Steed and rides off saying …

Teron Gorefiend: Death incarnate has been released upon the world once more! Teron Gorefiend has returned …

Karsius the Ancient Watcher: What … have you done …

NOTE: After turning in the quest with Chief Apotechary Hildagard at Shadowmoon Village …

Chief Apothecary Hildagard: You must right this wrong.  After all, it is your fault.  Take one of these helmets.  They are each infused with the ever-burning ash that you retrieved for me.  More importantly, they will allow you to see the ghosts of Shadowmoon, including Teron Gorefiend.

Should you ever find Teron Gorefiend, destroy him.

Burning Crusade - Tyrygosa, Jorad Mace, and the Nether Dragons

Warcraft lore trascends beyond the RTS game spin-offs into pocketbooks, RPG Books, Trading Card Games, and even Manga.  Such is the case with Kalecgos, Anveena, Dar’Khan, Tyrygosa and Jorad Mace—who are characters of Warcraft Manga: The Sunwell Trilogy.  Dar’Khan is a high elf traitor who joined Arthas in the manga, and has trascended to be an NPC in a blood elf quest of World of Warcraft?: Burning Crusade?.  Anveena—the embodiment of the Essence of the Sunwell—is an NPC in the MMORPG, and now Tyrygosa the blue dragon and Jorad Mace the Paladin are part of the MMORPG as quest-giving NPCs. This is a storyline involving Tyrygosa and Jorad Mace with the Nether Dragons.

Wind Trader Marid: There are only 3 kinds of people in this world: competitors, customers and employees. Competitors are to be crushed ruthlessly, customers indulged, and employees strictly supervised.

Independent contractors are a myth. They want to be paid better than employees, but treated like customers. Never trust one who calls himself by that title.

A NOT-SO-MODEST PROPOSAL

From the look on your face, I can tell you’re a (race) who appreciates a good profit.

I’ve built a reputation as a dealer in exotic goods, and I’m about to launch a new venture.

I need a reliable subcontractor to procure the goods from the Celestial Ridge.

First, you’ll need to re-energize a teleport pad. There is a spare power pack in Access Shaft Zeon, from our ill-fated deal with the blood elves. The Protectorate is operating in there, so you may be able to follow their tracers to your goal.

QUEST OBJECTIVES

Retrive the Teleporter Power Pack and bring it to the Ethereal Teleport Pad on the Celestial Ridge to the east of Manaforge Ultris. Activate the pad and give the Teleporter Power Pack to the image of Wind Trader Marid so he can install it. Rewards: 11g 30S.

(This Ethereal teleport pad is covered in brightly colored buttons and switches, but seems to have fallen into disuse.

> Attempt to contact Wind Trader Marid.

Wind Trader Marid: Are you prepared to discuss business now?

This power cell should hold for our purposes. Once the money starts rolling in, we’ll improve it even more.

Enough with such things. Every moment spent in discussion translates to lost profit.

GETTING DOWN TO BUSINESS

As you’ve no doubt seen, the area is teeming with nether dragons in various stages of growth. All nether dragons, young and old, contain an essence that’s highly desired by K—err, by a client of mine.

Most people aren’t willing to risk their lives to gather it, so we’ve got the place to ourselves. You can start by gathering the essence from any of the creatures out here, but it’s imperative that we start building a supply right away. Return to me once you have the first batch.

QUEST OBJECTIVES

Gather 15 Nether Dragon Essence, then return to the Ethereal Teleport Pad area. Nether Dragon Essence may be obtained from Nether Drakes or Phase Hatchlings.

(** When reaching the Teleport Pad, a female voice can be heard hidden behind the rocks. **)

Tyri: There’s no need to contact the conniving ethereal. Come, we have much to discuss. I’m certain you have many questions, all of which will be answered in due time. And to think, that wretched ethereal was going to sell these essences to the blood elves like so much candy …

FORMAL INTRODUCTIONS

Greetings. Do not be alarmed. This is merely a projection of my current form. It’s the only way my companion and I could keep watch without revealing ourselves.

The ethereal who approached you, Marid, is little better than a swindler in the guise of a legitimate merchant. I’d like you to consider working with me instead. My purpose out here is to find out more about the unusual dragonkin on this ridge. Meet me at the north end of the ridge and we will discuss this further.

QUEST OBJECTIVES

Find Tyri at the north end of the Celestial Ridge and speak with her.

Tyri: I’ve never seen anything like these nether dragons. They seem to have inherited their sire’s temperment, but they have become something entirely different.

My name is Tyrygosa, of the brood of Malygos, but most call me “Tyri.” My companion is the paladin Jorad Mace.

Word of these strange dragonkin has already traveled far and I fear that too many will rush to exploit them for profit without realizing the true nature of what they’re dealing with. With your help, we’re hoping to gain insight into these creatures before others discover their presence. Rewards: 1g 71S.

A PROMISING START

We’ve come here to investigate rumors of a strange breed of dragons, perhaps even descendents of Deathwing himself. These are clearly not ordinary black dragons, though.

We’ll know more once we’ve had a chance to examine their eggs. Their hatred for my flight runs deep, so I can’t get close enough to gather the eggs. Will you agree to help?

QUEST OBJECTIVES

Gather 15 Nether Dragonkin Eggs, then return to Tyri and Jorad on the Celestial Ridge. Reward: 11g 30S.

Tyri: Were you able to gather the eggs? These will work quite nicely. Thank you for agreeing to help us.

Before we can continue, however, there is something else we’ll need to address.

TROUBLESOME DISTRACTIONS

Your former employer, Wind Trader Marid, must’ve gotten wind that you’re helping us now. Through my projection, I’ve seen his nether-stalkers entering the area, hoping to track us down.

We’ve been able evade them so far, but Marid must be dealt with before the problem grows more severe.

If your impressions of Marid are correct, he’ll do just about anything to secure the supply of his product. Return to him and tell him you’re prepared to offer a deal. Lure him away and slay him.

QUEST OBJECTIVES

Speak with Wind Trader Marid and lure him away from his trading post. Deal with him and then return to Tyri and Jorad on the Celestial Ridge.

> Wind Trader Marid, I’ve returned with more information on the nether drakes. I’m prepared to be your business partner, and for an extra sum, I’ll take care of that troublesome elf and her human friend.

Wind Trader Marid: Let us hold our discussion in a more … private place. Follow me. You didn’t really think I’d do business with you again, did you? Sometimes, the best way to return to profitability is to know when to cut your losses.

Tyri: Now that that troublesome ethereal has been dealth with, we can focus our efforts on understanding these nether dragons. I’ve had chance to examine the eggs and I’ve made a few discoveries.

SECURING THE CELESTIAL RIDGE

The nether dragons have the same ferocious temperament as their black dragon forbears, but there is something entirely alien about them. They hatch and mature rapidly, harnessing the strange energies that forged their kind in the destruction of Draenor.

There is so much more I need to know about them, but I believe the powers may be of use to my own flight. If we can displace the leader of these drakes, Veraku, with a show of dominance, we can cow the rest of them into submission.

QUEST OBJECTIVE

Use the Challenge of the Blue Flight to provoke Veraku on the southern edge of the Celestial Ridge. Defeat him and return to Tyri and Jorad on the Celestial Ridge.

ITEM: Challenge of the Blue Flight – Use: Challenge the nether dragon Veraku. The challenge must be issued while standing near the Dragon Skeleton on the southern part of the Celestial Ridge.

Tyri: Have you challenged and defeated Veraku? Well done. Well done indeed. The nether dragonkin will not accept a blue dragon among them at first, but with time and the firm demonstration of my authority, they will come around. Scattered, isolated, and without a definitive leader, we must be vigilant in preventing them from falling under the sway of a malevolent power, keeping them in check all the while.

Burning Crusade - The Ethereum

Commander Ameer: What do you know about ethereals, fleshling?

You undoubtedly view us all in the same light, oblivious to the conflicts and struggles between the differing factions.

Perhaps it is time for an introduction.  I am Commander Ameer of the Protectorate – also your only hope of resolving the infestation of both void creature and Ethereum in this area.

> What are Ethereum?

Commander Ameer: The Ethereum were the ruling class of ethereal on my homeworld of K’aresh.  Tragically, we were forced to evacuate K’aresh shortly before the void lord, Dimensius, unleashed his void armies upon the world and utterly decimated all that stood in his way.  For this act, the Ethereum vowed vengeance.  They have been tracking Dimensius ever since …

The Protectorate, however, were not a reaction to Dimensius.  We were a reaction to Ethereum.

> I don’t understand.  What do you mean, Ameer?

Commander Ameer: The Ethereum have grown dark … twisted.  Vengeance has become their only recourse and any that would stand in their way or not join their cause are considered enemies.  Many saw that the Ethereum were plummeting into madness and left.  Several of the Nexus-Princes of the Ethereum council abandoned the Ethereum to form other groups and factions with different goals.  The Consortium are one such example of an off-shoot group.  The Protectorate another …

> So what is your purpose?

Commander Ameer: We feel that the Ethereum are as great a threat to our existence as Dimensius.  Both must be stopped …

> I think I understand now.  Can I help with any of this?  The Ethereum and void creatures are a threat to our survival as well.

THE ETHEREUM

Directly south of here you will find the Ethereum Staging Grounds.  The Ethereum are there, preparing for something … Perhaps an assault on Ultris.

We can’t take any chances, though.  Break through their perimeter defenses and take out their training facility.

Once you’ve destroyed their soldiers and Captain Zovax, locate Ethereum transponder Zeta and use it to establish contact with me to get your next set of orders.

QUEST OBJECTIVES

Commander Ameer wants you to kill 5 Ethereum Assassins, 5 Ethereum Soldiers, 2 Ethereum Researchers and Captain Zovax, then activate Ethereum Transponder Zeta.  Rewards: 6g 90S

The Sha’tar Story

Ishanah is the High Priestess of the Aldor, located at the Shrine of Undending Light at the Aldor Rise in Shattrath City (Outland).

Ishanah: “Welcome. We are the Aldor, priests of the Light and servants of the Sha’tar.

You are welcome to stay with us for as long as you need.

> Who are the Sha’tar?

“Born from light” would be a close translation for Sha’tar.  It is the name we gave to the naaru who reclaimed Shattrath City from the agents of Illidan.

> Isn’t Shattrath a draenei city?  Why do you allow others here?

Shattrath is more than a staging ground for war against the Burning Legion and Illidan.  It serves as a sanctuary to those seeking to escape the violence surrounding us.

We would be hypocrites if we turned the refugees away.

If your question refers to the Scryers, then I will respond that while I may not like them or their leader’s wild claims of visions of redemption.  It is not for us to question the wisdom of the naaru.

These are difficult times.  We need allies where we can find them.

Burning Crusade - Caverns of Time: Old Hillsbrad - Ashbringer

Inside Caverns of Time: Old Hillsbrad you may find many known characters at the front room of the Southshore Inn. There are Commander Mograine, Tirion Fordring, Arcanist Doan, Abbendis, Isillien, Fairbank and others. Here Commander Mograine reveals an artifact he found in Blackrock Spire during the Second War … an artifact that would serve as material to build … Ashbringer.

Commander Mograine: Keep your voices down. There are strangers about … Brothers and sisters, I have called you here today to discuss the fate of Lordaeron.

(Commander Mograine lowers his voice to a whisper.)

I hear things … Things that should not be. I have heard that Northrend is lost …

(Gasps can be heard throughout the room)

Commander Mograine: We must stand at the ready. I have faced undead before. They are ruthless killing machines, devoid of any emotion or compassion.

(Tirion Fordring nods.)

Tirion Fordring: Aye, I’ve battled them as well. We are ill-prepared as a kingdom to withstand such an assault.

Arcanist Doan: What do you propose, Mograine?

Commander Mograine: Propose? I propose that we prepare. That we prepare our loved ones, family and friends for the possibility of an undead holocaust. And there is this …

(Mograine unlocks the chest)

Abbendis By the Light! What is it?

Commander Mograine: I have had this object in my possession for 10 years. Since Blackrock Spire … I wrested it free from the remains of an orc lieutenant – a dark caster … It is from their homeworld. Do not get too close. I laid a hand upon it once … Only once and never again. The memories of that day still linger.

(Commander Mograine removes the gauntlet from his right arm and shows everyone his mangled hand.)

Commander Mograine: I surmise that this object is the living embodiment of shadows … darkness … It is a manifestation. It is a void.

Isillien: I do not see how this evil artifact is relevant to the undead. We must destroy it!

(Commander Mograine shakes his head)

Commander Mograine: No, old friend, it is very relevant. Let me ask you this, brothers and sisters: Can good exist without evil? Can there be light without dark? And if that answer is no, then could it be possible that because this artifact exists, its polar opposite must also exist? Could you imagine what the material manifestation of the Light could do against the undead?

Isillien: Nonsense, Mograine! It must be destroyed!

(Shock then silence overtakes the crowd)

NOTE: As you may view in the screenshots and video, all of them start casting Holy magic at the dark crystal.

Commander Mograine: It consumed the Light!

Tirion Fordring: Impossible!

Fairbank: Is … Is it getting lighter? Its coloration … It is changing.

Commander Mograine: BY THE LIGHT! Could it be? Could this be it? I must know … I will know.

(Commander Mograine reaches out to touch the light crystal.)

NOTE: An electric charge strikes at Mograine from within the crystal.

Commander Mograine: I … It … It is beautiful. What I felt when I touched it … The Light coursed through me and I through it … It healed my spirit.

Isillien: Your hand! It is healed!

(Mograine puts the crystal back inside the chest)

Commander Mograine: Let us never again speak of this day. Our enemies are many. They need not know we hold such artifacts. I have seen it … From this blessed crystal we will forge a weapon. This weapon will hold inside it a piece of each of us … And when it is used against undead, it shall cast them down. And in its wake, it will leave only ashes …

Tirion Fordring: The Ashbringer …

Arcanist Doan: The Ashbringer …

Fairbank: The Ashbringer …

Abbendis The Ashbringer …

Isillien: The Ashbringer …

You may read on the WoW Story Arcs section the transcript of what many NPCs say in-game as the first clues or mention of Ashbringer in the classic World of Warcraft (pre-Burning Crusade). Go here.

Burning Crusade - Caverns of Time - Taretha’s Diversion

Erozion: Taretha was integral in Thrall’s survival and upbringing and instrumental in shaping Thrall’s life.

It was Taretha who created the original diversion at Durnholde, allowing Thrall to escape.

Now the Infinite have captured Taretha and hold her at Tarren Mill. The diversion will not happen without our involvement. You must use the incendiary devices that I give you and burn down the internment lodges in Durnholde. When you have done this, speak with young Thrall in the basement prison of Durnholde.

Quest Objectives

Travel to Durnholde Keep and set 5 incendiary charges at the barrels located inside each of the internment lodges using the Pack of Incendiary Bombs given to you by Erozion.

Speak to Thrall in the basement prison of Durnholde Keep when you have the internment Lodges Set Ablaze.

Brazen the bronze dragon: When you are ready to fly to Durnholde, let me know and I shall take you.

NOTE: You must be dismounted before talking to Brazen. He will be your flying mount, transporting you to Durnholde Keep. After setting the internment lodges ablaze, Lieutenant Drake comes out.

Lieutenant Drake: You there, fetch water quickly! Get these flames out before they spread to the rest of the keep! Hurry, damn you! I know what you’re up to, and I mean to put an end to it, permanently! Time to bleed!

(After defeating the Lieutenant he says: Thrall … must not … go.)

NOTE: Go to Durnholde Keep’s basement. There you will find young Thrall inside a cage.

Thrall: You are friends of Taretha? So this is her new plan? Very well then …

ESCAPE FROM DURNHOLDE

Thrall: You look upon me now and see only a boy, but in my heart and soul I hide my dreams. I have plans for my people, stranger. One day, they shall overthrow their oppressors and rise as one. They will break free from the bonds that hold them and from that uprising shall be born the orcish Horde.

I promise you, stranger, should we make it out of here alive, when I have the means to reward this selfless deed, I will seek you out … I will find you.

(Thrall nods.)

We will leave when you are ready.

Quest Objectives

When you are ready to proceed, let Thrall know. Follow Thrall out of Durnholde Keep and help him free Taretha and fulfill his destiny.

Speak with Erozion in Old Hillsbrad should you complete this task.

Thrall: Very well then, Let’s go!

NOTE: Thrall will walk fast, so keep up. He will go to the Armory upstairs, and punches the armory clerk.

Durnholde Armorer: What’s the meaning of this? GUARDS!

NOTE: Thrall punches him, and steals some armor and weapons and runs outside.

Thrall: That’s enough out of him. As long as we’re going with a new plan, I may as well pick up a weapon and some armor.

NOTE: Outside, you get ambushed by at least four soldiers: warden, rifleman, and two veteran. You get at least three ambushes. One outside the Keep, another near the bridge, and after the bridge. Then a boss with two adds outside the gates of Durnholde.

NOTE: If Thrall dies, Erozion says: My magical power can turn back time to before Thrall’s death, but be careful. My power to manipulate time is limited.

Captain Skarloc: Thrall! You didn’t really think you would escape, did you? You and your allies shall answer to Blackmoore … after I’ve had my fun.

NOTE: When the battle is over, Thrall seeks to speaks to you.

Thrall: Thank you friends, I owe my freedom to you. Where is Taretha? I hoped to see her one last time and thank her before leaving into the mountains.

> Taretha cannot see you, Thrall.

Thrall: What do you mean by this? Is Taretha in danger?

> The situation is rather complicated, Thrall. It would be best for you to head into the mountains now, before more of Blackmoore’s men show up. We’ll make sure Taretha is safe.

Thrall: Very well. Tarren Mill lies just west of here. Since time is of the essence …

NOTE: Thrall mounts a horse, and gallops away. It is possible to find neutral Lordaeron guards on the road that will aggro Thrall. You have to fight them. Thrall mounts again and rides to the right of the bridge toward Tarren Mill’s barn.

Thrall: Tarren Mill lies beyond these trees. The commotion at Durnholde should give us a little time to find Taretha before the entire countryside is flooded with human soldiers. Let’s check the nearby barn, then head into town.

> We ‘re ready, Thrall.

NOTE: Thrall enters the Barn of Tarren Mill. A voice can be heard outside.

Tarren Mill Lookout: I thought I saw something go into the barn.

Tarren Mill Protector: I didn’t see anything.

(Thrall tries to calm the horse down.)

Tarren Mill Lookout: Something riled that horse. Let’s go!

NOTE: You are ambushed inside the barn. Afterwards, Thrall walks fast toward the Church, where a new ambush awaits. Make sure to drink between fights.

Tarren Mill Lookout: Thrall’s trapped himself in the chapel. He can’t escape now.

NOTE: The ambush is over.

Thrall: I did not ask for this! Taretha must be in the inn. Let’s go.

NOTE: When trying to reach the Inn, you get another ambush by mobs coming from outside the Inn. Taretha is on the second floor.

Taretha: Thrall, you escaped!

Thrall: Taretha! What foul magic is this?

Taretha: Thank you for helping Thrall escape, friends. Now I only hope you can help me as well. I awoke this morning to find myself trapped in this magical prison. A strange wizard told me that I would have to stay here for a while.

> Strange wizard?

Taretha: Yes, friends. This man was no wizard of Dalaran. His clothes looked quite foreign, and his accent was unfamiliar. All he could mumble about was time this, time that. You’ll have to find that wizard and convince him to release me.

> We’ll get you out. Taretha. Don’t worry. I doubt the wizard would wander too far away.

(You will fight Infinity Dragonkin, and then the final boss – a Infinity Drake named Epoch Hunter).

Epoch Hunter: Thrall! Come outside and face your fate! Not so fast! You cannot fight fate! Struggle as much as you like … No! The master will … not be pleased!

Thrall: I will not waste this chance. I will seek out my destiny.

Taretha: I’m free! Thank you all!

Thrall: I’m glad you’re safe, Taretha. None of this would have been possible without your friends. They made all of this happen. I’m free! Thank you all!

Taretha: Thrall, I’ve never met these people before in my life.

Thrall: Then who are these people?

Erozion: I believe I can explain everything to you two if you give me a moment of your time. (casts) That spell should wipe hteir memories of us and what just happened. All they should remember now is what reality would be like without hte attempted temporal interference. Well done. Thrall will journey on to find his destiny, and Taretha … Her fate is regrettably unavoidable.

Thrall: Goodbye, Taretha. I will never forget your kindness.

Taretha: They call you a monster. But they’re the monsters, not you. Farewell, Thrall.

Erozion: You have done a great thing. Alas, the young warchief’s memory of these events must be as they originally were … Andormu awaits you in the master’s lair.

RETURN TO ANDORMU

Erozion: This timeline has been restored and for now, the assault of the Infinite Dragonflight upon Hillsbrad has been quashed.

Return to Andormu at once. He awaits your arrival in the master’s lair.

Quest Objectives

Return to child, Andormu, at the Caverns of Time in the Tanaris desert.

Andormu: Please accept a gift from the bronze flight. These items will assist you in your journeys through time.
