Jeff Kaplan revealed to Buffed.de—at Leipzig GC2007 —that Blizzard plans to add one of the coolest Warcraft moments to Caverns of Time in the upcoming expansion: World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King. The Culling of Stratholme.  You can watch the video in english at the bottom of the Buffed.de page linked above.  Don’t miss Samwise Didier singing “I am Murloc” (level 70 Tauren Chieftain) at the end of the video.

A large range of hardcore players enjoyed the Stratholme dungeon at level 58-60 in the classic World of Warcraft (MMO).  Fans also experienced Stratholme at the single-player campaign in Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos (RTS) where players led Arthas into the Stratholme city to destroy infested buildings and killed its inhabitants to purge the city from the undead plague.  Arthas fought Mal’Ganis in Stratholme.

In Wrath of the Lich King, players will travel to Caverns of Time to fight alongside Prince Arthas before he became the Lich King.  In this new dungeon, players will help Arthas kill the inhabitants of Stratholme to purge the city.  This new Caverns of Time dungeon is planned to be a 5-players dungeon at level 80.

At the official forums, Bornak said the following:

“We are really excited about implementing this instance. The Caverns of Time has always had a lot of discussions about the possibilities of future instances. We feel that the culling of Stratholme at the side of Prince Arthas Menethil is one of those huge moments in Warcraft history that people will really enjoy doing.”
