All those names are names of alternate hosts the symbiont Dax has lived through three hundred years. Dax was a worm-like symbiont who ‘bonded’ with a humanoid species named the Trill for multiple lifetimes. Check out the story on The Lives of Dax. The character in the TV Series was Jadzia Dax (Season 1-6) and Ezri Dax (at Season 7).

Jer’ome is near the Windrider, outside Silvermoon City. Jer’ome asks you if you want to hear one of his rhymes (which are pretty crappy).
Reference: Brian Morrisroe is the Lead Interior Artist for Blizzard, and his employee Jeremy Graves is a Dungeon / City Artist. The reason for the rhymes is due to Jeremy having a knack for karaoke rapping to the beats of popular rappers such as snoop dogg, dr. dre, and last but definitely not least Eminem. (hence the bottle in his hand and him rapidly dropping to the ground asleep). The NPC also randomly says “BIP” because Jeremy does that in real life.

Some of these associations (Shattrath as Deep Space 9, Netherstorm as Tattooine, the Dreghood as some race from Dr. Who, and arakkoa as a Dune reference, to name a few) seem like a stretch.

Aeris Landing as an ASoIAF reference, however, makes more sense than the FFVII reference that I’ve heard people accuse it of being.

I think the “Dirty” Larry might be a reference to an employee, which is why we don’t get it. Those ruffians can’t possibly be a Clint Eastwood reference!
