DC Comics is preparing to make an announcement very soon. Nigh a year ago, on December 9, 2009, DC Comics ended the World of Warcraft comic book ongoing series after issue # 25, with the World of Warcraft Special # 1: Beginnings and Ends — featuring Ulduar’s Algalon the Observer.

An advertisement in issue # 25 stated the World of Warcraft: Horde # 1 would launch in January, and the Alliance focused book would continue with World of Warcraft: Alliance # 26

Within a two-weeks window, plans changed drastically though. Shortly after the cancellation, DC Comics announced the World of Warcraft comic book would return in a graphic novel format.

Almost a year fast forward, DC Comics makes no announcement. An image is worth a thousand words — some people say. DC Comics teases fans of the World of Warcraft comic book with an enigmatic image by Ludo Lullabi and Tony Washington.

The image shows Satyrs, a Felguard and a Felhunter. This unholy group is rushing against another immense army.

It’s hard to tell with the background, but it is slightly possible this might be Desolace where we know Satyrs and Demons reside. Ashenvale, Felwood are another such sites, but the background in this image doesn’t show these huge tree tops covering the sky. If you play Cataclysm beta in the present, you may know a bit more of what’s going on there with the new quests.

Does the image intrigues you? Got your own theories? Share them with other fellow fans.

UPDATE: Correction. This image teaser didn’t turn out to be a World of Warcraft Graphic Novel teaser. It is a teaser for the World of Warcraft: Curse of the Worgen # 1 on sale Nov 17, 2010. As you can read, most of the first issue goes in detail into the origin of the worgen which dates back to the War of the Satyrs shortly after The Sundering.
