After Sam Raimi’s departure as director, Blizzard Entertainment and Legendary Pictures continue to carry out plans to develop a film based on the Warcraft universe.

The latest buzz was that a new writer had been assigned to the project. In August.3.2012, Variety reported screenwriter Charles Leavitt (Blood Diamond, The Seventh Son) was picked by Legendary Pictures to take the challenge of bringing the world of Azeroth to life onto the big screen. It’s unknown if Robert Rodat (Saving Private Ryan screenwriter) is still aboard sharing screenwriter credits with Charles Leavitt.

No director has been assigned to the Warcraft film yet, but Nick Carpenter definitely breaths some heavenly hope to all of us Warcraft fans. While this is by no means an official statement nor endorsed by the Blizzard Public Relations team, it’s very kind and sensitive to allow fans to give their opinion and feedback before any film casting is made.

Chad “Crithto” Wingerd (World of Warcraft community manager) and Nick Carpenter (Blizzard Entertainment Vice-President of Art & Cinematic Development) had an exchange of ideas via Twitter.

We would like our audience to jump in into this discussion, and to thoroughly tinker some talented actors and actresses, or voice actors that you envision to participate in the Warcraft film.

Update: It just hit me square on the forehead. I recently saw Blizzard Rob Pardo posted in twitter he and Chris Metzen (SVP of Creative Development) had visited Pixar and he was glad to have met those folks. His visit to Pixar is a mystery. Does anyone dare to cast conspiracy theories and to light up the rumor mill?
