Recently, Universal Pictures announced the Warcraft Film by director Duncan Jones would be released on December 16, 2015. Today, Legendary Picture announced three movies have a new release date.
During the BlizzCon 2013: The Warcraft Movie Presentation Panel, a fan asked Duncan Jones about releasing the movie in 3D.
Fan 16: I’m sure a few people in the audience has some opinions on this, but: Stereo conversion versus Native. What’s your opinion?
Duncan: I have one eye much better than the other. So 3D films are not something that immediately works right for me. I actually prefer to watch the 2D experience; but 3D is obviously a massively important draw for some people who really get a lot out of it. I don’t know if you have seen GRAVITY yet? Or if you actually saw that in 3D? but the response to that has been that 3D can work. So we will look into it. I think 3D is something that I would hope we would release in both so that people can choose which one they want. I am a 2D fan, but I know there are people out there who really do love 3D as well.
From the Legendary Pictures update, the new release date seems to be influenced by the Warcraft Film getting converted to 3D. Many films have had this treatment in recent years with success, and considering all the complex visual effects of Warcraft, it makes sense to literally jaw-drop the audience in blazing spectacular 3-D.
The Warcraft Film was among them:

Yesterday, Deadline reported Mission Impossible 4 actress Paula Patton was already in the negotiating table to join the cast. Colin Farrell is rumored to be 50/50 and hasn’t taken a decision yet.
Deadline updated today at 10am three new actors sought for lead roles in the Warcraft film by Legendary Pictures and Atlas Entertainment.
These new actors are Paul Dano, Travis Fimmel, Anson Mount and Anton Yelchin.
You may remember Paul Dano in Loopers (2012) and Cowboys & Aliens (2011).
Travis Fimmel from Tarzan (TV Series 2003), The Experiment (2010) and Vikings (2013).
Anson Mount from Dollhouse (Tv Series 2009), Hell on Wheels (TV Series 2011) and Seal Team Six.
Anton Yelchin played as Chekov in the Star Trek Into Darkness film.
Deadline informs Legendary Pictures and Atlas Entertainment are casting for the Warcraft film.
Paula Patton is negotiating a lead role. Bleeding Cool says she is going for Lady Taria — wife of King Llane. Paula Patton is known for her role as Jane Carter in Mission Impossible 4: Ghost Protocol (2011) with Tom Cruise, and the upcoming Mission Impossible 5 (2015).
I am not too certain Bleeding Cool got the name right. If the rumor that the film is going with the Medivh and Khadgar era (The First War) was true, what would make sense is to see King Adamant Wrynn III and his wife Varia — parents of a younger Prince Llane.
