Kerrigan: The protoss will never forgive what I’ve done here. If my becoming human again eased their fears … well, I’ve given them new reasons to be afraid. But I’m not going to wait for them to come after me. I’ll strike first.
Izsha: Our leviathan is able to travel to another world at your command.
Kerrigan: It is done. The Golden Armada will never know we were here.
Izsha: I am glad that protoss is no longer aboard our leviathan. Her psionic presence was disturbing.
Kerrigan: She died bravely, trying to save her friends.
Izsha: Why do you care how the protoss died?
Kerrigan: I will kill anyone in my way. That doesn’t mean I enjoy it.
Izsha: Even Arcturus Mengsk, my queen? Will his death bring you no joy?
Kerrigan: Stop talking, Izsha.
Abathur: Placed parasite into protoss host.
Kerrigan: Yes. What about it?
Abathur: Clever. Lateral thinking. Protoss not able to be infested. But can still be host to foreign organism. Origins of parasite unknown.
Kerrigan: I made it, Abathur. You’re not the only one who can spin sequences.
These scenes take place within the Zerg Leviathan’s Bridge, Evolution Pit, and Kerrigan Chamber. This intermission takes place between the missions: Harvest of Screams and Shooting the Messenger.
Izsha: We captured a prisoner in the wastes and subdued her, my queen. She says she is a researcher.
Kerrigan: I didn’t order you to take prisoners.
Izsha: Abathur requested it. He wants to dissect her.
Kerrigan: What’s the point? He won’t be able to use protoss genetic material.
Izsha: He likes to try.
Kerrigan: Actually, keep her alive for now. I might find a use for her.
Izsha: My queen, your chamber is now available. Within, you can alter your abilities.
Evolution Pit – Conversation
Kerrigan: What is that sound?
Abathur: Failed experiments. Reverting to biomass. Slow process.
Kerrigan: At least put them out of their misery first.
Abathur: Wasted effort. Creatures will die soon. Pain irrelevant.
Kerrigan: When you say things like that, Abathur … I almost remember you and I feel … anger.
Abathur: Anger product of adrenaline, stress-response, imminent threat. No threat to you. No anger.
Kerrigan: I’ll be the judge of that.
Kerrigan Chamber – Conversation
Izsha: This is your personal chamber. From here you can focus your neural pathways, and alter your active abilities. As you grow in power, newer and stronger abilities will awaken. You can alter your active abilities here, whenever you wish.
Kerrigan: What are your people doing here?
Lasarra: We study this moon to see if its rotation can be altered, its climate improved. Do you understand? We are only colonists, and you are killing us.
Kerrigan: Yes. And if I let you live, you’ll call your Golden Armada, and they will kill me.
Lasarra: Kill thousands to save yourself? Is that how you justify this?
Kerrigan: I justify nothing. There is no moral high ground here. Your people have killed billions of zerg. We are all covered in blood. There may be more on my hands than yours, but in the end we are both killers.
Izsha – Conversation
Izsha: The hunt goes well, my queen?
Kerrigan: It’s bloody.
Izsha: Those protoss would kill you if they could. They are not zerg, that means they are the enemy.
Kerrigan: Is it that simple?
Izsha: For zerg, it is. Whatever my queen has lost, think what she has gained: Purity of essence. You are the will of the Swarm.
Hatchery – Conversation
Kerrigan: Nafash’s brood lives again within the Swarm.
Izsha: When the protoss struck, she fell back to prepared positions in the ice valleys. The protoss had to hunt her down.
Kerrigan: She was intelligent, careful and tenacious. But she made one mistake. She ran away.
The Starcraft II: Flashpoint by New York Times bestselling author Christie Golden has been relaunched in Mass Market Paperback format. Fans can find it at online and local retailers right now.
This was the StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm novel tie-in that bridged the gap between Wings of Liberty and Heart of the Swarm. The story begins merely seconds after Jim Raynor shot Tychus Findlay.
The sinister zerg leader no longer commands her legions of bloodthirsty aliens against the humans of the Koprulu sector, all thanks to the combined courage and tenacity of Jim Raynor, General Horace Warfield, and a mismatched team of Dominion soldiers and outlaw rebels.
Although the queen is no more, Sarah Kerrigan is very much alive. The woman who once controlled countless alien minds in a rampage across the stars has been spirited away by the man who dethroned her. Now Arcturus Mengsk’s Dominion armada is on her heels, roaring for blood. Jim Raynor will need to test his strength, his wit, and his loyalties against impossible odds to protect the woman he loves. StarCraft II: Flashpoint bridges the events that take place in StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty and the upcoming StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm. Featuring never-before-seen glimpses into Jim Raynor and Sarah Kerrigan’s past, this novel opens a window into a world of passion, action, and adventure.
